WR Brice Butler Heads to Oakland in 7th Round

The Oakland Raiders selected San Diego State WR Brice Butler in the 7th round of the 2013 NFL Draft.




A transfer from the University of Southern California who played right away instead of redshirting because he already earned his bachelor's degree ... Was a preseason second-team MW pick by Phil Steele.com ... Speedster with great hands .

At San Diego State - 2012: Appeared in 13 games in sole year at San Diego State after transferring from USC for senior season…Ranked second on team in receptions with 24 for 347 yards, also second-best for Aztecs in 2012…Four touchdown receptions also ranked second on team.

At USC - 2011: Appeared in 11 games with the Trojans, catching 12 passes for 150 yards ... Had three catches for 27 yards in the opener vs. Minnesota ... Grabbed three balls for 25 yards at Arizona State ... Had two catches for 30 yards vs. Arizona ... Had single catches in back-to-back games at California (15 yards) and at Notre Dame (5 yards) ... Had a season-long 36-yard grab against Washington ... Had one reception vs. UCLA in the team's finale.

At USC - 2010: Was a backup wide receiver as a sophomore in 2010 ... Appeared in 12 of the team's 13 games, catching nine passes for 112 yards (12.4 avg.) with a touchdown ... Also made a tackle ... Had a 9-yard catch at Hawai'i and a 4-yard reception at Minnesota ... Had a 7-yard touchdown grab at Washington State ... Caught a 25-yard pass at Stanford ... Had a pair of catches for 18 yards against California ... Grabbed three catches for 49 yards against Arizona State.

At USC - 2009: Earned ESPN.com Pac-10 all-Freshman first-team honors ... Saw significant playing time as a backup wide receiver as a redshirt freshman ... Played in all 13 games with a start against Stanford, catching 20 balls for 292 yards (14.6 avg.) with two touchdowns ... Had one catch against San Jose State for 11 yards and one reception vs. Washington ... Had a 29-yard TD catch against Washington State ... Caught two passes at both California (27 yards) and Notre Dame (32 yards) ... Added a 20-yard reception against Oregon State, a 25-yard grab at Oregon and an 11-yarder at Arizona State ... While starting vs. Stanford, had six receptions for 96 yards (both career highs) with a 36-yard TD ... Had a pair of catches for 13 yards against UCLA, a 14-yard reception against Arizona and a 3-yard catch against Boston College.

High School: Had 1,186 receiving yards with 15 TD catches in 2007, as a senior wide receiver at Norcross (Ga.) High ... Earned numerous honors, including Super Prep All-American, Prep Star All-American, ESPN 150, Super Prep Elite 50, Prep Star Dream Team, Super Prep All-Dixie, Prep Star All-Southeast and Atlanta Journal Constitution Super Southern 100 ... As a junior in 2006, had 35 receptions for 680 yards (19.4 avg.) with nine TDs.

Personal: Majored in public policy, management and planning at USC ... His father, Bobby, was an All-American cornerback at Florida State in 1980, who then went on to play for 12 years (1981-92) in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons ... His brother, Brenton, was on Fordham's basketball team (2007-10).
