100 Days of 100 Jersey Numbers - 14

Posted Feb 16, 2015

Day 15 of our series. Jersey No. 14 has been worn by six players in Raiders history, including current QB Matt McGloin.

For a total of 100 days, we'll take a look at the men who have played for the Raiders jersey number by jersey number. This series will highlight some of the greatest players in NFL history. In some cases, the player and jersey number are synonymous. In other cases, the jersey number represents sustained greatness at a particular position. Some players are superstitious about their jersey number. Whatever the case may be, jersey numbers are an important part of the fabric of professional football.

Jersey No. 14 has been worn by six players in Raiders history, including current QB Matt McGloin. It was the first number worn by a NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver and it was donned by the kicker in the Raiders first Super Bowl victory.

Hunter Enis – QB – 1962

Enis split time between the Raiders and the Denver Broncos in 1962. As a Raider, he appeared in 7 games with 1 start and completed 26 of 49 pass attempts for 217 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. He made his way around the AFL Western Division as he played for the Dallas Texans (Kansas City Chiefs) and San Diego Chargers before joining the Raiders.

Fred Biletnikoff – WR 1965-66

After the Raiders selected him in the 2nd round of the 1965 AFL Draft, Biletnikoff donned No. 14 before switching to his signature No. 25 in 1967. He played in 24 games in No. 14, and caught 41 passes for 603 yards and 3 TDs. We’ll have more on Biletnikoff when we get to No. 25.

Errol Mann – K – 1976-78

Mann joined the Raiders in 1976 as an injury replacement for Fred Steinfort. He played in 37 regular season games and made 36 of 59 field goal attempts and 98 of 107 extra point attempts for a total of 206 points. He also played for Green Bay and Detroit. He was the Raiders kicker in Super Bowl XI as the Silver and Black defeated the Minnesota Vikings.

Bobby Hoying – QB – 1999-01

Hoying served as the primary backup to QB Rich Gannon. He saw action in 6 regular season games and completed 2 of 7 pass attempts for 10 yards. His most significant action with the Raiders came in the 2000 AFC Championship game against the Baltimore Ravens after Gannon left the game due to injury. He went 8 of 16 for 107 yards and 2 INTs in that game.

Chris McFoy – WR – 2007

McFoy saw action in 3 games and caught 1 pass for 19 yards in a Week 15 loss to the Jaguars in Jacksonville.

Matt McGloin – QB – 2013-present

McGloin joined the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State. He saw action in 7 games with 6 starts in 2013 and completed 118 of 211 pass attempts for 1,547 yards, 8 TDs and 8 INTs. In 2014, he saw action in one game and completed 12 of 19 pass attempts for 129 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs in relief of an injured Derek Carr against the Dolphins at Wembley Stadium in London.
