Air & Ground Matchup Report: Week 6 vs. Chargers

Posted Oct 11, 2017

Let's see if the Raiders can get things rolling this weekend against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Oakland Raiders are currently in the midst of a three-game losing streak, but they’ll look to buck that skid Sunday afternoon at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum when they play host to the 1-4 Los Angeles Chargers.

After starting their season with four, consecutive losses the Chargers secured their first win of 2017 last weekend, taking down the New York Giants 27-22, on the shoulders of a big day from running back Melvin Gordon.

Even with Gordon’s outing against the Giants, the Chargers still rank No. 29 in rushing offense, totaling just 78.8 yards per game on the ground. On the other side of the aisle, the Silver and Black rank No. 23 against the run, so keep an eye on how Defensive Coordinator Ken Norton, Jr.’s attempts to limit Gordon and the rest of the Chargers backs.

Offensively, with quarterback Derek Carr likely back in the mix this Sunday, the Raiders will look to get back to their high-flying offensive ways, and improve on their current average of 279.2 yards per game, good for 30th in the NFL.

After rushing for a combined 108 yards last week against the Ravens, the Silver and Black will look to keep the positive momentum on the ground rolling, and take advantage of the Chargers 32nd ranked rush defense (161.2 YPG).
