Darren McFadden Ready to Run

Posted Aug 11, 2014

RB Darren McFadden spoke to the media as he finished his seventh visit to the Raiders Napa Valley Training Complex.

Q: How would you assess camp, how it’s gone up to this point?

McFadden: “Camp is camp. I feel like we had a decent camp. We still have some things that we need to go out there and correct and get better about, but overall as a team, I feel like we got better every day. But like I said, there’s still a lot of things we have to clean up.”

Q: In what ways does a guy like Latavius Murray push the running back group?

McFadden: “Latavius is a great, young guy. He comes in there with a lot of strength and power and he’s a guy that’s going to come in there, and people can’t sleep on him. He’s a guy that has deceptive speed, so you know he’s going to be a good fit for our team and help us out a whole lot back there.”

Q: Does he make you better?

McFadden: “Yeah, I feel like we all make each other better just by whatever play we come in and out, we tell each other what we see on the play. We just try to help each other out in anyway that we can.”

Q: It seems like you guys were able to run the ball pretty well on Friday. When you look back at that tape, obviously you only had the one touch for 23 yards, but do you feel like the running game is making strides to becoming a real team strength?

McFadden: “Oh yeah. I have to give credit to the offensive line. Those guys have been out here all week and all camp busting their tail. They open the holes up and we just hit them running when we get the chance.”

Q: You had a pretty big one on that 23 yarder…

McFadden: “Like I said, they opened the hole up and all I had to do was use my speed and get through it.”

Q: What do you hope to get accomplished the next two days, going against a different team in the Cowboys, without going over the top and getting good positive work in for you guys?

McFadden: “Just going out there and getting better as a team overall. You can go out there and practice against another team and it’s going to get physical, but that’s something that we need. We want to go out there and have a physical practice, but at the same time work smart.”

Q: Is it going to be awkward at all to look across the line and see a familiar face in Rolando McClain over there?

McFadden: “For me, it’s happened for several years, going against guys that I’ve played with being on the other side of the ball. It’s part of the game. Guys come and go like that, so I’m just going to go out there and practice hard.”
