Huff Tied for League Lead in INTs

Posted Sep 20, 2009

Oakland Raiders safety Michael Huff is tied for the National Football League-lead with three interceptions on the young season. Huff intercepted Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel twice during the Raiders 13-10 come-from-behind win at Arrowhead Stadium.

“It has to go back to studying film. We put in extra work this week. CB Nnamdi (Asomugha) is a defensive leader and he held an extra meeting for the DBs that was an hour, two hours after everybody else," Huff said after the game. "He is a great leader and he had us watching film so we knew the offense well. Especially when you get pass rush from the front four, it makes playing in the secondary a lot easier.”

Huff got his first interception of the season last week in the Raiders 24-20 loss to San Diego and he said the way the game ended inspired the Silver and Black's defense. “Defensively, we didn’t finish the way we wanted to last weekend. This week we got another chance to go out there and finish and we did that.”

Pro Bowl CB Nnamdi Asomugha said of his teammate, "I knew that the time was going to come when he would get out there and make the plays. When you make one early, then it can start to snowball, and that’s what’s happening. He’s always been a playmaker."

Huff also broke up a pass on 4th and 5 to turn the ball over on downs on the Chiefs last offensive play of the game. The fourth-year safety now has four career interceptions with three of them coming at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
