Janikowski Continues to Rewrite the Record Books

Posted Jan 3, 2012

K Sebastian Janikowski continues to set records in his 12th season with the Raiders.

K Sebastian Janikowski scored the third-highest point total in team history with 129 points on 31 field goals and 36 extra points. Janikowski’s 129 points added to his previous total of 1,142 for a career total of 1,271 points.

Janikowski’s 31 field goals in 2011 are 3rd only to Jeff Jaeger’s 35 in 1993 and his own total of 33 in 2010.

At the end of the 2011 season, Janikowski has 392 extra points. He needs only four more to break the Raiders record set by George Blanda with 395.

Janikowski kicked a 63-yarder in Denver in the 2011 season opener, tying the NFL record and setting a new Raiders record. Janikowski already held the record for the longest field goal in Raiders history, a 61-yarder scored at Cleveland in 2009, and now owns the top seven spots on the longest field goals made list including 63, 61, 59, 57, 56, and 55.

Janikowski kicked 32 touchbacks, the most in his career. He broke his personal record of 29 that he set last season.

The 12-year veteran set a team record for most field goals made in a game with six against Chicago on November 27, 2011.

Janikowski earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl in his 12th season.  He was selected AFC Special Teams Player of the Week three times (Weeks 1, 5, and 12). He was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for both September and November. He also helped the Raiders earn the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week for their overtime victory in Kansas City during Week 16.
