Wide Receiver Amari Cooper

Oakland Raiders' wide receiver Amari Cooper took the stand at training camp today to open up about the development of his relationship with quarterback Derek Carr. Cooper feels much more comfortable in his second year and is focused on perfecting the details.

Here are the quick hits from today:

Cooper burst onto the NFL scene last year, and now in Year Two, he feels confident and comfortable going into a new season.

"Yeah, I feel a lot more fresh. I was just able to focus on football and things I need to work on in the offseason, so it was a great feeling."

**Carr and Cooper have been rooming together during camp, which is providing them with ample bonding time.

"I mean we have a lot more time together. We have time to talk about things, talk about what we want to accomplish when we come out for practice. We have time to talk about the script because every practice is scripted. How he wants me to run certain routes. That's the biggest thing"

Each player has a life outside of football, and Cooper is enjoying learning more about Carr as a person.

"I learned more about his family. His life outside of football. Just things like he has two dogs. Learned stuff about his kids. We talk and communicate on things outside of football."

Cooper has high expectations for the receiving corps this season and believes it can take it up a notch.

"I think the sky is the limit. We're out here working, especially against our DBs. They're giving us some good work out there on the field. I think we're getting better every day. I think the sky is the limit."

As a soft-spoken individual, Cooper is an example of actions speaking louder than words. "I really don't try to vocalize things unless I think it's really important. If I see a player probably making the same mistake or even a mistake that I used to make or I still make, I try to help him out. But I really try to lead by example."
