Raiders Return To The Facility For Offseason Workout Program

Posted Apr 9, 2018

The Oakland Raiders are back in Alameda, Calif., to participate in the Offseason Workout Program. Many of them took to Twitter to express their excitement.

The first day of offseason workouts is reminiscent of the first day of school. There’s excitement in the air; you’re reuniting with all your friends, and is the players on the roster are meeting their new teacher, Head Coach Jon Gruden.

The Oakland Raiders returned to the building Monday, as they officially kicked off the 2018 Offseason Workout Program. Gruden and General Manager Reggie McKenzie have revamped the roster, and there will be a lot of new faces suiting up for the Silver and Black this year. After a disappointing 2017 season, many of the players are eager to get back on the field and start with a clean slate. With that being said, several players took to social media to express their joy to be back at 1220 Harbor Bay Parkway; let’s take a look.

Whitehead is one of the many new faces to join the team, and should be a great fit in Defensive Coordinator Paul Guenther’s scheme. The 28 year old spent his first six seasons in the league with the Detroit Lions, and is coming off back-to-back 100-plus-tackle seasons. He’s also totaled four interceptions, 19 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, and three sacks over the course of his career.

Carr didn’t have his best season in 2017, but I think it’s safe to say he’s fired up to work with his new head coach. Gruden is known for his quarterback camps, and he’s shared on multiple occasions his desire to get to work with No. 4. Starting today, that becomes possible. It’ll be fun to see Carr’s maturation under Gruden’s supervision.

It’s not an exciting moment just for the players here at the facility in Alameda, Calif., but former Raider Akbar Gbajabiamila seems like he’s pumped for the upcoming year as well.

Football isn’t officially here yet, Raider Nation, but keep your eyes peeled for more news and videos from all the offseason workouts.
