The Oakland Raiders have signed unrestricted free agent DL Antonio Smith, General Manager Reggie McKenzie announced Friday.

Smith was originally selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the fifth round (135th overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft.  He spent his first five years with the Cardinals before signing with the Houston Texans, where he has spent the past five seasons. Smith has played in 140 career games with 117 starts and registered 324 tackles (229 solo), 41.5 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, 11 fumble recoveries and nine passes defensed.

In 2012, Smith was selected to his first Pro Bowl when he set career highs in tackles (51), sacks (seven), forced fumbles (two) and passes defensed (three), along with helping the Texans clinch their second consecutive AFC South crown. Last season, the 6-foot-4, 289-pounder posted 50 tackles (27 solo), five sacks, one forced fumble and one pass defensed.

The Oklahoma City, Okla. native played collegiately at Oklahoma State after transferring from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College. At Oklahoma State, Smith totaled 60 tackles (30 solo), 8.5 sacks, and three passes defensed in two seasons.
