Team Notes

The Raiders fell to the Broncos in Denver, 37-6, on Sunday. With the loss, the Silver and Black fall to 1-3 on the season.

The Raiders enter their bye week, marking the earliest that a Raider team has had an open date since the 2008 season when Oakland also had a Week 5 bye.

The Raider defense recorded a takeaway for the second straight game, recovering a second-quarter fumble at Denver.

Individual Notes

K Sebastian Janikowski kicked two field goals, from 38 and 24 yards out, giving the veteran 301 career field goals to pass Matt Bahr and Mark Moseley for 22nd in NFL history.

With two field goals at Denver, Janikowski has now hit 34 consecutive field goals from less than 40 yards, having last missed such an attempt on Sept. 26, 2010 at Arizona. Over a longer stretch from less than 40 yards out, he has hit 40 of his last 41 attempts since missing a 35-yarder in a 34-20 win over Denver on Dec. 2, 2007.

FB Marcel Reece totaled a team-high five receptions for 54 yards, including a season-long 31-yard catch on the Raiders’ first offensive possession that helped set up a field goal. Reece added a 15-yard reception in the second quarter.

Reece’s five receptions marked a season high and tied his career best set on Nov. 27, 2011 against Chicago.

DT Richard Seymour got his hands on the ball on three consecutive plays in the first quarter. He tipped a pass by QB Peyton Manning that was intended for WR Eric Decker before being credited with a pass defensed on a pass intended for TE Jacob Tamme on the very next play to force a field goal attempt. On the 21-yard attempt by Denver K Matt Prater, Seymour once again got a hand on the ball, but the kick cleared the crossbar.

TE Brandon Myers had a 22-yard reception in the second quarter at Denver. It marked the third reception of 20 or more yards this season for Myers, who has also registered catches of 24 and 26 yards. Myers leads all Raiders non-running backs with 16 receptions, which already ties a career high, for 228 yards.

RB Taiwan Jones was excellent as the gunner in punt coverage at Denver, totaling two solo stops on Shane Lechler punts and adding an assisted tackle.

Head Coach Dennis Allen successfully challenged a play for the second time this season, earning a reversal on a pass-completion ruling for Denver in the second quarter. It marked the second-straight game in which Allen has successfully used a challenge. Including the preseason, Allen is a perfect five-for-five on challenges.

DE Lamarr Houston recovered a fumble by Denver WR Demaryius Thomas deep in Raider territory at Denver. The second-quarter fumble recovery is the fifth of Houston’s career and his first since Nov. 10, 2011 at San Diego.

WR Denarius Moore hauled in a pair of long passes from QB Carson Palmer at Denver. His first catch was a 37-yard grab that marked a season long and helped set up a Raiders field goal in the second quarter. He added a 19-yard catch in the fourth quarter and finished the game with four catches for 71 yards.

TE David Ausberry recorded a reception for the fourth straight game, hauling in a 9-yard pass on the Raiders final drive of the game.

WR Juron Criner posted his first career reception, connecting with QB Carson Palmer on a 13-yard completion in the fourth quarter at Denver. Criner added a 16-yard reception later on the same drive.

RB Mike Goodson had a season-long 13-yard rush in the fourth quarter at Denver. The effort marked his longest rush since a 15-yard run on Jan. 2, 2011 at Atlanta as a member of the Carolina Panthers.

SS Tyvon Branch posted a game-high nine tackles (eight solo) according to unofficial press box stats, including one tackle for loss.

P Shane Lechler punted seven times for 346 yards, his highest yardage total since punting for 422 yards in Week 2 at Miami. Lechler averaged 49.4 yards per punt despite having a punt tipped and travel only two yards, and had a season-long 68-yard punt.

CB Joselio Hanson made his first start as a Raider, opening the game as an extra defensive back.

QB Carson Palmer completed passes to eight receivers, with five of those receivers recording multiple catches.
