Team Notes

The Raiders fell to the San Diego Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium, 24-21.

The Raiders lost to the Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium for the first time since Nov. 1, 2009.

CB Brandian Ross and OL Tony Bergstrom joined QB Terrelle Pryor in the starting lineup Sunday, bringing the total of Raiders that have made their first NFL starts in 2012 to seven. Three of the first four this year also came against San Diego, in the Sept. 10 opener: Phillip Adams, Dec. 16 vs. KC; Miles Burris, Sept. 10 vs. SD; Alex Parsons, Sept. 10 vs. SD; Rod Streater, Sept. 10 vs. SD

DB Cory Nelms and OL Lucas Nix made NFL debuts Sunday. In all this season, 14 players made their NFL debuts for the Raiders:  OL Tony Bergstrom, DT Christo Bilukidi, LB Kaelin Burnett, LB Miles Burris, DE Jack Crawford, WR Juron Criner, LB Carl Ihenacho, DB Cory Nelms, OL Lucas Nix, FB/RB Jamize Olawale, C/G Alex Parsons, RB Jeremy Stewart, WR Rod Streater and CB Brandian Ross.

The Raiders played last season’s finale vs. San Diego with 53 players on their roster and four on injured reserve. Of those 57, only 26 were active on Sunday. Only 29 are still in the organization, and of those 29, just 21 are currently under contract for next season.

With CB Brandian Ross making his first career start, the Raiders started their eighth different defensive back combination this season.

The Raiders scored a first-half touchdown on a 12-play, 80-yard drive, marking Oakland’s first touchdown since Dec. 6, vs. Denver.

The Raiders added an eight-play, 76-yard touchdown drive in the fourth quarter.

Oakland went 3-for-3 in trips to the red zone Sunday, posting a perfect efficiency.

The Raiders home opponents for the 2013 regular season will be Denver, Kansas City, San Diego, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Washington.

The Raiders' away opponents for the 2013 regular season will be Denver, Kansas City, San Diego, Houston, Indianapolis, New York Jets, Dallas, and New York Giants.

Oakland as of now has six selections in the 2013 NFL Draft, including what should be the No. 3 overall selection after tonight's final NFL game. Prior to 2012, they gave up their second-round choice in the Carson Palmer trade and their fifth-round selection in the Aaron Curry deal. They acquired a late-round choice from the Panthers for Louis Murphy.

Individual Notes

QB Terrelle Pryor became the first Raider quarterback to make his initial NFL start with the Silver and Black since JaMarcus Russell in the 2007 regular-season finale vs. San Diego on Dec. 30, 2007, exactly five years before Pryor’s first-career start.

Pryor led the Raiders on a first-half scoring drive, taking the Silver and Black 80 yards on 12 plays in seven minutes, culminating in a 9-yard touchdown pass.

Pryor scored his first-career rushing touchdown on a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter.

DB Cory Nelms, promoted from the practice squad Saturday, made his NFL debut vs. San Diego.

Nelms, one of 14 Raiders to make an NFL debut this season, saw his first career action on special teams in the first quarter as part of the kick-return unit.

OL Lucas Nix saw his first career action, playing at right guard. Nix made the active roster as a non-drafted free agent out of Pittsburgh.

DT Tommy Kelly made his 80th consecutive start, the longest current streak among NFL defensive tackles. Kelly hasn't missed a game since the 2007 season, when he sat out nine contests due to a knee injury, and he has started every game since the 2008 season-opener vs. Denver on Sept. 8, 2008.

G Cooper Carlisle made his 76th career start, marking the fifth-longest current streak among NFL guards. Carlisle last missed a game on Sept. 28, 2008, vs. San Diego.

P Shane Lechler played in his 206th game, matching former Pro Bowler Steve Wisniewski for No. 6 on the franchise list.

DE Lamarr Houston recorded a first-quarter sack of Chargers QB Philip Rivers, and shared another with DT Desmond Bryant in the second quarter.

Houston set a career high with 1.5 sacks and increased his season total to a team-high 4.5.

Bryant’s half-sack marked his fourth straight game with at least one shared sack. It’s the longest streak by a Raider since DT Tommy Kelly posted at least a half-sack in five straight games from Oct. 10-Nov. 7, 2010, according to Elias Sports Bureau.

WR Darrius Heyward-Bey hauled in a 9-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter. It was Heyward-Bey’s first scoring reception since a 56-yard catch-and-run on Dec. 6, vs. Denver, and his fifth of the season, marking a career high.

RB Darren McFadden extended his personal streak of games with a reception to 31. His streak marks the longest on the team and dates back to the beginning of the 2010 season.

WR Denarius Moore extended his streak of games with a reception to 23, second-longest on the team, dating back to Oct. 16, 2011.

K Sebastian Janikowski extended his consecutive streak of PATs to 128. His last miss came on Dec. 14, 2008, vs. New England.

WR Rod Streater made his 39th reception to pass RB Marcus Allen (1982) for the fourth-most catches by a Raider rookie at any position. Streater's 39 catches among non-drafted NFL rookies at any position since 2000 are tied for third with Keiland Williams, Washington, 2010. In that span, only Davone Bess (54 in 2008) and Doug Baldwin (51 in 2011) had more.

TE Brandon Myers extended his receptions streak to 17 games, dating back to the 2011 season finale.

Myers finished the season with the most catches by a Raider since WR Jerry Rice had 92 receptions in 2002. Myers’ total was the most by a Raider tight end since Todd Christensen had 95 catches in 1986.
