In 1998 with the fourth pick in the NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders selected defensive back Charles Woodson out of the University of Michigan, who would go on to be one of the greatest players to don the Silver and Black. The former Wolverine started in 151 games for the Raiders and appeared in a total of 154.

During his 11 seasons with the squad, Woodson hauled in 27 interceptions, accumulated 604 tackles, recovered 12 fumbles, scored three touchdowns, and made three consecutive playoff appearances, including one Super Bowl in 2002.
