The Oakland Raiders finished off practice on Sunday to conclude a solid weekend. With tomorrow being an off day, the Raiders left it all on the field and didn't waste any time getting to work. A few players returned to practice, along with a couple new additions taking the field, it was an productive day to say the least.

Here are the highlights from today's practice:

  • Running back Taiwan Jones and tight end Colton Underwood returned to the action today, each put the pads on and got back in the mix. Jones was back on special teams receiving kick offs and got involved in the passing game a bit.
  • Defensive back Tramain Jacobs appeared in his first Raiders' practice today after being claimed by the team via waivers. He was seen conversing with coaches and defensive players, trying to make his presence known. Special Teams Coordinator Brad Seely also incorporated him into the kickoff drills as a blocker.
  • Cornerback Sean Smith continued being a leader in practice today as he took rookie cornerback Antonio Hamilton aside to give some pointers. Smith isn't shying away from the opportunity of being a leader for this young team; he's leading by example and vocally helping everybody get on the same page defensively.
  • Wide receiver Johnny Holton has impressed all training camp up to this point. Today he continued that trend by hauling in a deep pass down the sideline. Holton is speedy receiver with good hands, and he's been revealing what he's capable of.
  • Rookie, former Michigan State Spartan, linebacker Shilique Calhoun was on a mission during practice this afternoon. The 6'4", 251-pounder made the most of his opportunities by bursting quickly off the line. He was quick around the offensive edge, getting low and aggressive in his pursuit of the quarterback. Calhoun had a good overall day and is flashing his true potential.
  • Star wide out Amari Cooper made a highlight reel play as quarterback Derek Carr connected with him down the sideline. Cooper leapt in the air, and went over the top of the secondary, as he brought down a well-contested pass. He immediately took the ball up field for what could've been a potential touchdown in a live game.
  • Although the offense put together and impressive performance, the Raiders defense made some plays of their own. With the offense within their own five-yard line, defensive end Khalil Mack got to the quarterback to secure a safety. The defensive unit has been in lockdown mode all training camp long.
