Raiders verpflichten Ed Wang

Oakland nimmt Offensive Lineman unter Vertrag.


Die Oakland Raiders haben Free Agent Offensive Lineman Ed Wang unter Vertrag genommen. Er bestritt bislang sechs NFL-Spiele, allesamt 2010 für die Buffalo Bills.

Der 1,96 Meter große und 145 Kilogramm schwere Wang wurde aus Verletzungsgründen vergangene Saison von Buffalo entlassen. Er kam als Fünftrunden-Pick der Bills im NFL Draft 2010 (140. Pick gesamt) in die Liga und war somit der erste chinesisch-amerikanische Spieler in der NFL.

Er stammt aus Ashburn, Virginia, und stand an der Virginia Tech University 2009 im All-Atlantic Coast Conference Second-Team. Während seiner College-Zeit spielte er Offensive Tackle und Tight End. Wangs Eltern waren in den 1970er Jahren beide Mitglieder des chinesischen Olympiateams.
