Eric Sanders is in his fifth season with the Oakland Raiders and third in his present capacity. Sanders served in an offensive quality control role on the Silver and Black’s staff for the prior two seasons.

For the last two seasons, Sanders primarily assisted with the defensive line. Last year, the line improved stopping the run, finishing sixth in the AFC, allowing just 107.9 yards per game. Oakland was also one of the best teams in 2013 when it came to holding opponents from gaining big plays on the ground. They were tied for first in the league when it came to opponent rushes of over 20 yards, giving up just five on the year. DE Lamarr Houston had his best season as a pro and anchored the defensive line, starting all 16 games and making 71 tackles (55 solo) with six sacks and two forced fumbles.

In 2012, Sanders aided in the development of Houston as he earned AFC Player of the Week honors for his performance against Jacksonville on Oct. 21. Houston totaled seven tackles (six solo), one sack and a critical forced fumble in the Raiders’ 26-23 overtime win.

As an offensive assistant for the Silver and Black (2010-11), Sanders mainly worked with the tight ends.  In 2010, TE Zach Miller totaled 60 receptions for 685 yards and a career-high five touchdowns, receiving his first Pro Bowl selection.

Before joining the Raiders, Sanders coached linebackers for two seasons at UC Davis. He also served as the assistant offensive line/tight ends coach at UC Davis in 2006, before becoming a graduate assistant at Utah State.

Sanders was involved with the UC Davis program as an undergraduate and earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology with a biological emphasis in 2005. From 2003-05, he was the team’s video coordinator and assisted in coaching the defensive line.

PERSONAL: A native of San Francisco, Calif., Sanders traveled to the Far East in 2005 for coaches clinics with the American Football in China Exchange Association.
