Former Raider and eight-year NFL veteran Justin Griffith is in his third season on the Oakland coaching staff, serving as an offensive quality control assistant. He was a coaching intern with the Seattle Seahawks prior to joining Silver and Black.

Throughout the last two seasons with Oakland, Griffith has worked primarily with the offensive line and tight end positions. Griffith aided a shuffling offensive line through eight different starting combinations, the most in the NFL. Despite injuries, the offensive line paved the way for four different players to rush for 100 yards, the fist team to do that since 1978. Griffith also worked with the tight ends, the youngest unit on offense. The tight end group included two rookies and just one career catch among three players entering the regular season. TEs Jeron Mastrud and Mychal Rivera saw action in all 16 games, with Rivera leading the way with 38 catches for 407 yards.

In 2012, Griffith helped tutor TE Brandon Myers emerged as a favorite target, as the fourth-year player led the team with 79 catches for 806 yards. Myers recorded a reception in 17 straight games dating back to the 2011 season finale. Myers closed out the season ranked fourth among NFL tight ends with 79 receptions.

Griffith played in 96 NFL games with 73 starts, totaling 413 yards on 94 rushing attempts, and 141 receptions for 989 yards with five touchdowns. He played in 23 games with 14 starts in two seasons at fullback with the Silver and Black (2007-08). Originally drafted by Atlanta in the fourth round of the 2003 NFL Draft, Griffith played four years with the Falcons before joining the Raiders. He played for Seattle in his final NFL season (2009).

PERSONAL: A native of Magee, Miss., Griffith majored in education at Mississippi State. He played in 39 career college games, totaling 85 receptions for 937 yards and four touchdowns. Griffith enjoyed first-team All-SEC as a senior. He has a fraternal twin, Julius. He and his wife, Kim, have two sons, Brody and Dylan.
