Raiders at Saints At-A-Glance


In Week 2 of the 2013 Preseason, the Oakland Raiders travel to New Orleans for the first time since a 2008 regular season match up. Kickoff is set for August 16 at 5:00 p.m. PT at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

  • Saints lead all-time preseason series 2-3.
  • This will be the Raiders first trip to New Orleans since a regular season game in 2008.
  • Their last meeting was a regular season match up at Coliseum in Oakland last year, which the Raiders lost 38 -17.
  • Raiders Head Coach Dennis Allen will be returning to his former team where he served as the Saints assistant defensive line coach from 2006 to 2007 and the secondary coach from 2008-2010 when they won Super Bowl XLIV.
  • Raiders cornerback Tracy Porter was the Saints second round pick in 2008. He played for the Saints from 2008 to 2011 and returned an interception for a touchdown in Super Bowl XLIV.
  • Raiders safety Usama Young was drafted by the Saints in 2007 in the third round and played for the Saints from 2007 to 2010.
  • Special teams coordinator Bobby April worked in the same position for the Saints from 1996 to 1999.
  • Saints quarterback Drew Brees played for the San Diego Chargers from 2001 to 2005 and started eight games against the Raiders. He has two starts against the Silver and Black as a member of the Saints.
  • New Orleans' RB Darren Sproles was also a member of the Chargers, 2005-2010, and faced the Raiders regularly.
  • Saints CB Chris Carr played for the Raiders from 2005-07 and ranks as the leading kickoff returner in Raiders history.
  • Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan served in the same capacity for the Raiders from 2004-08.
  • Saints DE Kenyon Coleman was drafted by the Raiders in 2002.
  • Saints DE Jay Richardson was drafted by the Raiders in 2007 and played for the Silver and Black from 2007-09.
