Raiders Introduce Seymour

]( The Oakland Raiders introduced the newest member of the squad, DE Richard Seymour, to the local media during a press conference at the team's Alameda, Calif., facility late Saturday afternoon. Seymour, who has been selected to five Pro Bowls, was acquired in a trade with the New England Patriots.

Earlier this week, Raiders Head Coach Tom Cable said, "We knew we needed to help the team if it was possible. We're always doing that. As you talk to different people, it came up and so it was to make this team better. We're getting a quality player that has done a lot, both a run player and a pass rusher."

Upon his arrival, Seymour met Coach Cable, defensive coordinator John Marshall, and the training staff. He also met the equipment staff who fitted him for his helmet and practice gear and showed him to his locker.

Raiders Owner Al Davis began the press conference with some opening remarks.

"We are proud now for the Raider fans, the Raider team, for the Raider organization to welcome Richard Seymour - a great player from the New England Patriots," Mr. Davis stated. "I want to state this, from the very beginning, there was never any doubt that Richard wanted to play for the Raiders. He grew up being a Raider fan. There was never any doubt he wanted to play for the Raiders."

Head Coach Tom Cable added, "There was never a question if we wanted him and we are happy to have Richard be a part of this football team."

"When I grew up I was always a Raider fan. There was something about that Silver and Black," Seymour said. "I can assure Raider Nation, I was 93, I'm 92 now, and 92 is ready to play football. I'm ready to kick things off Monday night."
