Madden 20: Revealing the 2019 Raiders' ratings

An NFL player's Madden rating is more than just a number in a video game; it's a form of social status among their peers. Every player dreams of one day achieving the coveted 99 overall, but only a select few are awarded that honor.

EA Sports announced the full list of ratings for every player around the league Monday morning, and several members of the Oakland Raiders boast an overall rating of 80 and above. From top to bottom, the Silver and Black's 2019 roster seems to have more talent than in years past, and bias aside, this should be a fun group to use in Madden 20.

Let's take a look at some of the ratings from the Raiders' roster:

The Top Guys

The Madden 19 poster boy, Antonio Brown, is the leader in the clubhouse when it comes to his Madden rating. The dynamic superstar is one of the undisputed elite receivers in the NFL, and among all wide receivers, he trails only DeAndre Hopkins, who has an overall rating of 99.

Offensive linemen never get enough love, but I'm happy to see the good people at EA are showing love to Pro Bowl center Rodney Hudson this year. The ratings say his strength is a 90, but this man played an entire game with kidney stones. Nobody is stronger than Hudson in my opinion.

Here are the team's top five players:

Antonio Brown WR 98
Rodney Hudson C 93
Lamarcus Joyner S 85
Tyrell Williams WR 83
Derek Carr QB 80

The Rookies

With three first-round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Raiders were sure to draft some high-end talent. Clelin Ferrell, Josh Jacobs, and Johnathan Abram will be tasked with carrying the Silver and Black into the new era of Raiders football, but they won't be alone. The 2019 Class as a whole should provide the team with an added lift this season and beyond.

Here is how the class shakes out:

Clelin Ferrell DE 74

Trayvon Mullen CB 69

Hunter Renfrow WR 70
Quinton Bell DE 61

The Playmakers

When I play Madden, the one thing I always look for is speed. My play style caters toward the deep ball, the highlight-reel plays if you will, and the Raiders have plenty of playmakers capable of earning an instant replay. More importantly, though, you need to have players you can rely on to help you convert a 3rd-and-17 in the fourth quarter.

Check out some of the best playmakers on the Raiders roster:

Player Position Speed Catching Break Tackles
Antonio Brown WR 92 99 87
Tyrell Williams WR 92 84 77
Josh Jacobs RB 85 66 83
Darren Waller TE 88 77 53
Jalen Richard RB 90 74 82

The Gruden Grinders

We know the Raiders struggled defensively in 2018, but Paul Guenther's unit has been revamped through free agency and the draft. This group has drastically improved on paper over the last seven months, and they'll be one of the more underrated defenses to play with in Madden 20 – mark my words. From Vontaze Burfict to Lamarcus Joyner, the Raiders added plenty of experienced talent still in their 20s.

Here's the top players on defense:

Player Position Strength Awareness Tackling
Lamarcus Joyner S 56 84 74
Vontaze Burfict LB 79 75 80
Clelin Ferrell DE 81 73 81

Brandon Marshall LB 77 84 85

Madden 20 is set to release on August 2, so you better pre-order it now, and be among the first to play with the Silver and Black's all-new roster. You can check every player's rating, here.

See you out there on the virtual gridiron.
