Danny Amendola enters his first season as a coaching assistant/returners coach with the Raiders.
Amendola enjoyed a 13-year NFL playing career as a wide receiver and kick returner with the St. Louis Rams (2009-12), New England Patriots (2013-17), Miami Dolphins (2018), Detroit Lions (2019-20) and Houston Texans (2021).
He played in 163 games with 76 starts and recorded 617 career receptions for 6,212 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns. As a returner, Amendola registered 153 kickoff returns for 3,590 yards (23.5 avg.) and 198 punt returns for 1,860 yards (9.4 avg.).
Known for his clutch play in the playoffs, Amendola appeared in 13 postseason games –all with the Patriots – and recorded 57 receptions for 709 yards and six touchdowns, with TD catches in New England's Super Bowl XLIX and LI wins. He ranks fourth all-time in Super Bowl history with 337 receiving yards and eighth all-time with 21 receptions.
Amendola entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent and started his career with the Rams in 2009, where he led the league and set franchise records in kickoff returns (66), kickoff return yards (1,618) and total return yards (1,978) in his first year. In 2010, he registered a career-high 85 receptions for 689 yards and led the NFL with 2,364 all-purpose yards.
After four seasons with the Rams, he joined New England for five seasons and registered 230 catches for 2,383 yards and 12 touchdowns during that span. Amendola played one season with the Dolphins in 2018 and two seasons with the Lions from 2019-20 before his final year in Houston in 2021.
