Swearinger, a 5-foot-10, 205-pound safety, was originally selected in the second round (57th overall) by the Houston Texans in the 2013 NFL Draft. Swearinger spent two seasons with the Texans and has since made stops with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2015), Arizona Cardinals (2015-16, 2019) and Washington Redskins (2017-18). Over his seven-year career, he has appeared in 94 contests and made 70 starts, compiling 383 tackles (292), 4.5 sacks, 14 interceptions, 40 passes defensed, nine forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
Most recently with the Arizona Cardinals in 2019, Swearinger started all four of his appearances and collected 28 tackles (17 solo) and one pass defensed. In 2018, he started in 15 games, the second consecutive season that he started all appearances after starting 16 games in 2017. He totaled 53 stops last year and matched career highs with two sacks, four interceptions, 10 passes defensed and three forced fumbles. Swearinger’s 11 interceptions since 2016 are tied for second-most among NFL safeties.
