Saturday evening was a good time to be a starting quarterback at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, as both Derek Carr and Marcus Mariota enjoyed quality outings in the preseason matchup between the Oakland Raiders and Tennessee Titans.

In their abbreviated evenings of work, Carr completed 12 of 18 passes for 169 yards, and a pair of touchdowns, while Mariota finished the game completing 9 of 16 passes for 170 yards.

While the Silver and Black lost Saturday's matchup 27-14, the tandem of Carr and wide receiver Amari Cooper – or AC/DC as they've affectionately been coined – found their rhythm, and enjoyed a quality evening at home, connecting on three passes for 52 yards, including an impressive 29-yard touchdown before ending their night in the early stages of the second half.

Defensively, while the Raiders starters allowed a fair amount of yards in the first half – 276 in total – they kept the offense in the game, and made sure it was still in reach when the first team departed for the night.

Saturday's effort was surely not as complete as defensive coordinator Ken Norton, Jr. would have liked, but the team still has one final pregame matchup to clean up their errors before flying to New Orleans to open the regular season against the New Orleans Saints.

After missing the first two preseason games of the season recovering from a minor knee injury, undrafted free agent Jalen Richard finally made his debut in Silver and Black, getting involved on both special teams and offense during his first extended run as a Raider.

In total, the Southern Mississippi-product put together a solid debut, finishing the game with six carries for 22 yards, as well as two kick returns for a total of 57 yards.

Midway through the first drive of the second half, Carr's evening ended, as he ceded the quarterbacking responsibilities to Matt McGloin, who ended his night of work 8 of 13 for 71 yards and one interception.

Rookie quarterback Connor Cook took over for the final 4:29, completing three of six passes for 51 total yards.

Head Coach Jack Del Rio's team won't have much time to dwell on their loss to the Titans, as they return to action Thursday evening at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum to wrap up the 2016 preseason against the Seattle Seahawks.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
