The Oakland Raiders earned their second win of the season on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. The Titans have a daunting running game with athletic quarterback in Marcus Mariota and running backs Demarco Murray and Derrick Henry. Rookie linebacker Cory James was tasked with stopping this three-headed running attack Sunday in his first NFL start as the team’s middle linebacker.

After having a productive day on the field and helping the Silver and Black come away with the “W,” James appeared on 95.7 The Game Monday morning to talk about the win.

Here are the quick hits from his time on 95.7 The Game:

James expressed how he felt nervous prior to the game, but was excited to come away with the victory.

“Of course there’s always a little nerves, but I’m just happy I got the start. Happy we got the win, man.”

Entering Week 3, the rookie linebacker spoke with players and coaches about preparing for the game.

“It was a blessing first of all, but through the week I was trying to get as much film and watch as much film with other players, like Malcolm Smith and the coaches, just my preparation there. By game time I was ready to go.”

The Colorado State-product discussed where he feels the team can continue to improve.

“Probably just getting the run fixed, we’ve been practicing and everything. I feel like we did a better job than the past couple of weeks, but we’re still getting better. Whole lot of season left, so we’re still getting better.”

After playing in some high temperatures, James talked about how the team has prepared.

“Just getting in the training room, I’m about to go to the training room right now. Just getting in the training room, getting hydrated throughout the week, and just doing what we did last week in preparation for Tennessee.”

Heading into the Raiders Week 4 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, James was to the point about what the team needs to do.

“Just win. Got to go out there and get the win.”
