The following countries are celebrating their independence today on September 15: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.

The Mexican patriotic festivities begin September 16 with the famous 'Grito de la Independencia.' Chile will start celebrating on September 18, while Belize does it on September 21. Puerto Rico's Independence Day is September 23.
