Fullback Marcel Reece, a Raiders captain, was voted the 2013 Commitment to Excellence Award winner. His teammates voted for him for best exemplifying hard work, leadership, and excellence on and off the field throughout the season. On Saturday, March 8, 2014, Reece will be honored as part of the 12th Annual Commitment to Excellence Award Presentation Dinner at the Oakland Airport Hilton.

Reece played multiple roles for the Silver and Black this season. In addition to his usual fullback position, Reece started at running back against the Jets with both Rashad Jennings and Darren McFadden injured. He ran for 123 yards and a touchdown and added 38 receiving yards. He also acted as quarterback on one play against the Kansas City Chiefs when he completed a pass to CB Chimdi Chekwa on a fake punt for 22 yards.

The multi-talented athlete completed the season with 46 carries for 218 yards and 2 touchdowns, as well as 32 receptions for 331 yards and 2 touchdowns. Reece now has 152 carries for 723 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns and 138 receptions for 1,481 yards and 8 receiving touchdowns in his career.

Off the field, the veteran fullback was active in the community. Reece was the Raiders NFL United Way representative. He hosted a tweetup with the United Way at The Raider Image in Oakland, meeting fans and promoting United Way. He gathered a group of his teammates to participate in the 15th Annual Hometown Huddle event. Reece joined a group of his offensive teammates for Toys for Tots, signing autographs in exchange for donated toys for local children. He also rode the Play 60 bus to reward Super School Millsmont Academy for their commitment to staying active.

Reece has been selected for his second-consecutive Pro Bowl and was recently named second team All-Pro by the Associated Press.

Reece was honored to be chosen by his teammates as the Commitment to Excellence award winner. "As far as the Commitment to Excellence Award, everybody knows I love the Raiders," said Reece. "I love the Silver and Black and I appreciate the Raider Nation with all my heart."
