Coach Allen Monday

On Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson: "Both of them have high ankle sprains. Darren had an X-ray that was negative and an MRI also that was negative. We will see how he responds this week. We haven't ruled him out for this weekend's game. Goodie was at the doctor getting an MRI right now and I would anticipate he is kind of in the same boat."

On if he knows which ankles they are:"No I don't."

On when McFadden got injured: "It was early in the game. I don't know if it was the second carry that he had, but it was early in the game that he injured it."

On McFadden wanting to come back into the game: "Darren wanted to be back out there. It wasn't a case where you risked any further injury. Darren is a competitor and he wanted to be back out there. So we put him back out there. He came in at halftime and he just wasn't going to be able to do it so we kept him out the rest of the game."

On whether they will bring in another running back: "We've obviously got to wait and see when we get a little bit more medical information on those two guys but that certainly is a possibility."

On how long he can wait to make that decision: "I think we have to look and see what we think later in the day. Then we will talk over the different scenarios of what we can do and then we will make a decision."

On Desmond Bryant: "He is at home. They released him from the hospital today. He had a fast, irregular heart beat and he was kept overnight in the hospital, released today and he is back home with a normal heart beat."

On the Buccaneers success against the Raiders front seven: "I think they did a nice job of executing what they were trying to do. We got cut out of the back side a couple of times, one on one of the long runs. Really it boils down to our ability to get off blocks and tackle and we didn't do that well enough in the second half yesterday."

On re-watching the Raiders defense yesterday as a defensive-minded coach: "It hurts, but there are things that we have got to get corrected. At the end of the day, their guy made the play and we didn't. We have got to learn from those mistakes and we have to be able to get it corrected."

On making adjustments to different defensive schemes during the game: "Yeah, it was different schemes that we had up. It was an issue of when you have the opportunity we have got to make the tackle when we get an opportunity. Listen, the guy is a good runner. They were running the ball good coming into the game and they ran the ball good against us. The thing that we have got to do a better job of is eliminating those things where they don't become, they may be 10 or 15 yard gains, but we have got to be able to get them down to 10 or 15 yards and not 70."

On Carson Palmer's interceptions: "Carson was hurried on a couple of throws and I think he said this yesterday and he would say it again today that there is a couple of throws in that game that he wished he had back that maybe weren't the best decisions. Obviously, he was a big part of why we are able to get back into the football game too. Those are things that we have got to continue to work on, the passing game. We have got to be better in protection. We have got to be better in executing on the timing on the route."

On whether Denarius Moore and Palmer are on the same page throughout the game: "Obviously it is not perfect on every single play; I would say for the most part that the passing game has been pretty much in sync."

On if the defensive line was getting blown off the ball on running plays: "I didn't see it as, necessarily, they were getting blown off the ball. I think our ability to get off blocks and make plays, we did not execute that as well as we needed to. Again, we had an opportunity to make some tackles and didn't do it."

On Giordano's injury: "He's got a hamstring; he was ready to go back in the game. We chose not to put him back in the game. We'll see again where he was at. He said he felt fine today so we'll kind of see how he practices this week."

On if he would move Huff back to safety if Giordano couldn't play: "Potentially, we'll have to look at that as the week goes on."

On activating Bartell or Curry: "We haven't made a decision on either one of those yet."

On why opponents have been better against them in the 3rd quarter: "That's something we're continuing to look at and continuing to try and work on. Obviously I don't have the answer to that because if I did I'd have it fixed. We certainly do have to come out better after halftime and perform. We've been in every single game for the first half and then the games that we've lost, the third quarter has been what's really hurt us. I don't know that it's a magical formula, but we obviously have to play a lot better."

On if the defense let off the gas a little in the third quarter: "No, I think they made some plays. They made some plays when we had opportunities, they made them. Couple of third down opportunities early there in the third quarter, we didn't execute like we needed to, we didn't get off the field like we needed to. They executed, in turn continued drives and scored points."

On what he wants the locker room to be: "I want them to work on improving and getting better. We've got to play better and we've got to be more consistent in the way that we play, and that's been something that we've stressed and we've got to continue to stress."

On the tackle position: "Well, we're going to look at things. We talked about that this morning, about looking at Tony Bergstrom as a potential. We're not going to close our eyes and act like we don't see things that are happening. We're going to try to address whatever needs to be addressed."

On Khalif Barnes: "He'll be back on the practice field, we anticipate, Wednesday and we'll see how he practices and progresses throughout the week. We'll make a decision on him later in the week as to whether he's good to go for this weekend or not."

On Shawntae Spencer: "Shawntae we're going to take him out tomorrow and run around on the practice field and see where he's at. Obviously I think Khalif is a little further along than Shawntae."

On going for deep passes despite 2:32 left on the clock: "The first pass was a one-on-one shot that we felt good about the matchup. We've hit him on a couple of deep passes, down the field. The second pass was really an intermediate cut designed to get about 12-15 yards. Obviously it wasn't executed the way that we wanted it to and it cost us an interception, but no it wasn't a situation where we said we were going to go 'bombs away,' but we were trying to make some plays."

On if they will take shots against one-on-one coverage: "Yeah, and there's certain plays that are called that give us those opportunities and then there's obviously certain plays that are just designed to get the ball out of his hands quickly too. One play was a play where we felt like we could probably take a shot and the next play was kind of an intermediate cut designed to get just past the first down sticks and we just didn't execute it."

On why he hasn't activated Curry from the PUP list: "We've got to talk about the roster. If we're going to bring him up to the active roster, we've got to find a spot to put him."

On using Marcel Reece more even when everyone is healthy: "Well, yeah; obviously with the health of our backs right now he becomes more of an option there at the tailback position but Marcel has provided some options for us and we've used him in a lot of different ways. Now, every week he doesn't catch the ball for 100 yards or rush for 100 yards, but he's very much a part of our offense and vital to our offense."

On if he feels like he knows his team or is still learning about them: "I think everyday we're learning a little bit more about this team. I think that evaluation takes time and it's a process, but I feel like I know this team a lot better than I did when I first got here."

On Taiwan Jones' ball security: "That's obviously something that he's got to improve on. He's got to make sure that he can protect the football and he's got to make sure the he understands what his assignments are. As we got more comfortable with those things, he'll earn more playing time."

On considering putting Jones at cornerback since he played some at that position in college: "That thought has been at the back of my mind but I don't think we're ready to make any kinds of moves like that."

On Rolando McClain: "I thought there was obviously some plays where he did a nice job, where he did his job and he played well. Then there was a couple of plays where he didn't do as good as we needed him to do, but I don't see him any differently than I see anybody else out there. I'm not going to single him out. We all have to do better."

On any discussions about CB Stanford Routt who was waived by the Chiefs: "No."

On Curry's health: "I still think at the end of the day there's some question there, exactly where he is physically, but the other thing that I said was I'm not going to make that decision until I feel like I have to. That's part of the deal too and we didn't feel like we had to make a decision at that point in time, but we're getting closer to that point where we've got to make a decision."

On if Curry plays inside or outside: "He can play either one, he can play either outside or inside, and he's worked really at both the SAM and the WILL linebacker position."

On if the need to bring in a running back complicates the roster moves: "Yeah, there's only so many spots you've got, so you've got Aaron Curry, you've got potential for a running back, you've got Ron Bartell; those are all things that we've got to consider."

On if Desmond Bryant's condition was new: "It's nothing with him that we've dealt with. I don't really know to the extent or what it really means, but I know that our medical people are on top of it."

On if Bryant will practice Wednesday: "No, he will not practice on Wednesday. There's a couple of things that he's got to do, but he has not been ruled out for this weekend and we'll see where we're at after Wednesday if he's able to go on Thursday or Friday."

On Andre Carter's play time: "I don't remember the exact number of plays that he played in the game, twenty-something plays. It was probably the most productive that he's been since he's been active for us. I really see that kind of as his role; he's going to be anywhere from 25-35 plays in a game and we hope that he can give us some rush ability and the ability to get after the quarterback a little bit."

On if Bryant approached the coaches and told him he wasn't feeling well: "I'm not sure exactly how that went. I just know that [Head Athletic Trainer H.] Rod [Martin] grabbed me basically coming out of halftime and said that they had him running some tests on him for an irregular heartbeat and that's really the extent of what I know."

On what he tells Palmer following his turnovers: "I say we've got to make better decisions at certain points and times in the game. I'm not going to sit here and put the blame of the game on Carson Palmer. I think he's operated exceptionally well for us at the quarterback position and he's one of the big reasons why we've been able to win the games that we've been able to win. He's a huge part of our offense and he feels as bad as anybody about the negative plays that he had in the game."
