George Jackson Jr. Named Tom Flores High School Football Coach Of The Year

Named after 2-time Super Bowl winning Coach Tom Flores, the Tom Flores High School Football Coach of the Week Program, presented by Gatorade, is designed to recognize high school football coaches who continuously demonstrate hard work and dedication to their football programs by creating successful football teams and players both on and off the field.

Each Coach of the Week recipient is awarded a $1,000 donation to the school's football program from the Raiders Foundation and the NFL Foundation, as well as $1,000 worth of Gatorade product from Gatorade.

Coach of the Year – George Jackson Jr., Kennedy High School

George Jackson Jr., from Kennedy High School in Richmond, was named the 2017 Tom Flores High School Football Coach of the Year. Coach Jackson has been a vital part of the turnaround at Kennedy High that has led to back to back 9 win seasons. Following a string of 28 consecutive losing seasons, Kennedy High has made it to the Division 4 CIF Playoffs each of the past two years. Being a Richmond native, Coach Jackson has led his players off the field as well. Located in inner city Richmond, Kennedy High has changed the perception about their football program and Coach Jackson continues to preach that academics and a family atmosphere is what is leading them to greatness. Raiders DT Treyvon Hester, OT Jylan Ware and the Raiderettes paid a visit to Kennedy High School to congratulate Coach Jackson and his team.

Week 10 – Ben Ballard - Northgate High School

Ben Ballard, from Northgate High School, was named the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week. The Northgate Broncos defeated the Mt. Diablo Red Devils with a final score of 42-8 as they traveled on the road to Mt. Diablo High School in Concord. Scoring all of their 42 points in the first half and only allowing one touchdown, Northgate now sits at 7-2 on the season and 3-1 in league play as they turn to face Hayward High School in the first round of the playoffs this Friday. Raiders alumnus Robert Jenkins and the Raiderettes paid a visit to Northgate High School to congratulate Coach Ballard and his team.

Week 9 - Victor Galli, Pittsburg High School

Victor Galli, from Pittsburg High School, was named the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week. The Pittsburg Pirates traveled to powerhouse Liberty High School in Brentwood and gave them their second loss of the season in dominant fashion with a final score of 35-0. The Pirates' defense forced 5 turnovers and completed their first shutout of the season. Pittsburg High School now sits at 6-1 on the season and 3-0 in league play as they turn to face rival Antioch High School at home on Friday. Raiders alumnus Charlie Smith and the Raiderettes paid a visit to Pittsburg High School to congratulate Coach Galli and his team.

Week 8 - George Jackson Jr., Kennedy High School

George Jackson Jr., from Kennedy High School in Richmond, was named the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week. The Kennedy Eagles traveled on the road to give Hercules High School their first loss of the season with a final score of 21-14. The Eagles held Hercules High's potent offense to two touchdowns and added another conference win to their tally. Kennedy High School now sits at 8-1 on the season as they turn their attention to an away game at De Anza High School on Friday. Raiders alumnus Morris Bradshaw and the Raiderettes paid a visit to Kennedy High School to congratulate Coach Jackson and his team.

Week 7 - Tim Silva, Granada High School

Tim Silva, from Granada High School, was named the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week. The Granada Matadors of Livermore defeated the Monte Vista Mustangs in a close matchup with a final score of 27-24. The Matadors held off a fourth quarter comeback from Monte Vista and pulled off the huge conference victory. With two interceptions on the defense, Coach Silva led his team to their fourth win on the season. Granada High School is now 4-3 and will move on to face local rival Cal High this Friday. Raiders alumnus Robert Jenkins and the Raiderettes paid a visit to Granada High School to congratulate Coach Silva and his team.

Week 6 – Matt Hoefs, Dublin High School

Matt Hoefs, from Dublin High School, was named the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week. The Dublin High Gaels defeated the Livermore high Cowboys with a final score of 24-6. With this strong defensive effort, the Gaels even their record to 3-3 on the year and will move on to face local rival Amador Valley High School this Friday. Raiders alumnus Brad Badger and the Raiderettes paid a visit to Dublin High School to congratulate Coach Hoefs and his team.

Week 5 – Matt Sweeney, Foothill High School

Matt Sweeney, from Foothill High School in Pleasanton, was named the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week. The Foothill Falcons defeated the Cal High Grizzlies in a low scoring affair, shutting them out 14-0. With this strong defensive effort, the Falcons now have a 3-2 record as they head out this Friday to face Granada High School on the road. Raiders alumnus Brad Badger and the Raiderettes paid a visit to Foothill High School to congratulate Coach Sweeney and his team.

Week 4 – Michael Peters, McClymonds High School

Michael Peters, from McClymonds High School, was named the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week. The McClymonds Warriors defeated the Vanden High Vikings shutting them out in their Friday night home game. It was a dominant defensive effort from the state champs, holding Vanden to just 115 total yards. The Warriors have started the season with an impressive 5-0 record and will begin their league schedule this week against Castlemont. Raiders Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Marquel Lee and Xavier Woodson-Luster paid a visit to McClymonds High School to congratulate Coach Peters and his team.

Week 3 - Antoine Stocker, San Lorenzo High School

Antoine Stocker, from San Lorenzo High School, was named the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week. San Lorenzo High defeated the American High Eagles with a dominant offensive and defensive showing. With a final score of 26-6 and three rushing touchdowns from their senior running back, the Rebels have started the 2017 season with an impressive 3-1 record. San Lorenzo will begin their league schedule this week against Dougherty Valley High. Raiders alumnus Charlie Smith and the Raiderettes paid a visit to San Lorenzo High School to congratulate Coach Stocker and his team.

Week 2 - Gerald Montgomery, Hercules High School

Gerald Montgomery, from Hercules High School, was named the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week. The Hercules High Titans defeated Galileo High School from San Francisco in a close game with a final score of 16-12. With this strong defensive effort, the Titans have started the season on a hot streak and currently sport a 4-0 record. Raider alumnus Charlie Smith and the Raiderettes paid a visit to Hercules High School to congratulate Coach Montgomery and his team.

Week 1 - Denny Molzen, Castro Valley High School

Denny Molzen, from Castro Valley High School, was named the Tom Flores High School Coach of the Week. The Castro Valley Trojans defeated Mt. Eden High School from Hayward in dominating fashion with a 49-12 victory last week. Coming off a loss in their 2016 matchup, Castro Valley, led by 2 rushing touchdowns from their senior running back, stormed ahead early to put Mt. Eden away. The Trojans have started the season with a 1-1 record. Raider alumnus Charlie Smith and the Raiderettes paid a visit to Castro Valley High School to congratulate Coach Molzen and his team.
