Head Coach Jon Gruden talks Antonio Brown: "Really happy to have him out here"

General Manager Mike Mayock spoke directly Sunday afternoon, and Head Coach Jon Gruden followed in stride Tuesday, when asked about the status of Antonio Brown.

"He's in," said Gruden when asked about the star wideout. "He's all in. That's what he said."

Part of that "all in" mentality is being an active participant in practice, and such was the case for Brown on Tuesday, according to the Raiders head coach, who said bluntly that Brown did indeed go through the day's work with the rest of his teammates.

And yes, for those of you wondering, that work also included No. 84 wearing a helmet.

"It's a certified helmet," Gruden explained. "He's all in, ready to go. That's my understanding, and really happy to have him out here. He's a great player."

As Gruden said, Brown is indeed a great player, and although the seven-time Pro Bowler missed large chunks of practice time during camp, he has still made good progress in the Raiders system.

"Really good," Gruden said when asked about how Brown looked physically. "He's shown great retention of what we're doing. He didn't miss the offseason program. He's been here and out of here, in meetings, and just good to have him back. He's in great shape. He's running hard and running good routes."

It's been an eventful few weeks for Brown, but with a successful return to practice, it sounds like the focus for AB – as well as the rest of the Raiders roster – is on the regular season.

And although the Silver and Black have found themselves in the news quite a bit as of late, Gruden doesn't believe that any of the outside noise has been a distraction to his squad

"It's not been a distraction to me at all," Gruden said when asked about the wide receiver's situation. "I hate to break it to anybody, but we've known what the status is regarding his feet. He just showed up with frostbite. I've never had a guy show up with frostbite, and fortunately we got that thing under control, and this grievance is no laughing matter. It's something that's really important to him, and there's nothing wrong with supporting your players, on things that they believe in. We also understand the league's position, but I'm confident that he's going to be a heck of a player for us and be ready to roll."
