New Raiders Head Coach Jack Del Rio fielded questions from fans shortly after arriving at the team's Alameda, Calif., facility. Here are some select quotes.
Head Coach Jack Del Rio:"To come back and be a part of Raider Nation is very exciting for me."
"That is probably going to be played out a lot, the fact that I grew up here and all of that, but to me, it's the opportunity. I think there's some pieces in place. I think there is a front office in place, I do believe that we do we have a chance to grow this thing and have success and that's what I want to be a part of. I didn't want to go back to any team that I didn't think was tracking in a direction that would have success, and that's what I'm all about."
"Having a good nucleus of some young talent is an important part of it, and we'll need to add more and we'll need those guys to get to work. We have a lot of work to do, but certainly it is exciting to have a couple of good pieces in place."
"I think it starts with doing the things that would make the Raider Nation proud. There is a lot that goes into it and we're going to get started. We're going to roll up our sleeves. When we're done with this press conference, Reggie [McKenzie] and I are going to get started on the process of evaluating talent and evaluating the roster and evaluating the potential moves and things as we go forward, and putting a staff together and all those types of things. A lot of work goes into it, but I'm excited to get started."
"There are many memories, and I'm going to throw one out there. George Blanda gets off the bench, he was at this point a kicker and he goes into the game, I think they were down 6-0. He goes into the game and they win 7-6. I was at that game. I'm just saying, that's the kind of moment you don't forget."
