Bucky Brooks' Scouting Report: Week 4 vs. Bears

Who is the Guy?

The Bears' success hinges on Caleb Williams' performance. The team has upgraded the play caller and playmakers around the former No. 1 overall pick to ensure his success as the franchise quarterback. Given their commitment to him, he must play exceptionally well for the Bears to win each week. From his decision making to his accuracy to his willingness to play on schedule, Williams must bring his A game for the Bears offense to thrive in Week 4.

Know His Name

Rome Odunze has supplanted DJ Moore as the Bears' WR1. The second-year pro can make plays on the perimeter on various "catch-and-run" concepts, particularly WR screens and crossing routes at short and intermediate range. With his size, strength and physicality overwhelming defenders in space, the Raiders must pay attention to Odunze's whereabouts on pivotal downs.

Don't Sleep On…

Terrell Edmunds is the big play linebacker who fits the mold of the gold jacket players (Dick Butkus, Mike Singletary and Brian Urlacher) who traditional play the "MIKE" linebacker role for the "Monsters of the Midway." As an instinctive sideline to sideline defender with outstanding range and ball skills, the veteran has a knack for coming up with the game-changing play that tilts the game in the Bears' favor.

Under Pressure

Ben Johnson's reputation as an offensive wizard and quarterback developer puts his game plan and play sequencing in the spotlight. The rookie head coach is not only expected to craft call sheets that showcase his top players' talents, but he must incorporate some of the tricks and gadgets into the script to satisfy the football nerds who adore his approach. Although winning is the priority, the Bears' new head coach is expected to win with pizzazz to keep the critics from at bay.

Matchup to Watch

Montez Sweat vs Raiders O-Line

Montez Sweat is the Bears' designated disruptor at the point of attack. Dennis Allen builds his pressure package around the veteran's talents to create and exploit favorable matchups at the line of scrimmage. With Sweat displaying unique talents as a power-based rusher with extraordinary length and a non-stop motor, the Raiders must steer their pass protection in his direction to limit his impact as a playmaker.

Offensive Scheme

Despite the Bears' glitzy and glamorous scheme, Johnson wants to pummel opponents with a downhill running game and a big play aerial attack. The offensive guru is an exceptional play designer with impeccable timing. With a very talented collection of playmakers at his disposal and a physical offensive line in the trenches, Johnson's exotic smash mouth attack can give defensive coordinators problems if the offense finds its rhythm early.

Defensive Scheme

Dennis Allen has never met a blitz that he didn't like. Thus, the Raiders must be prepared for a blitz-heavy game plan that features five-plus rushers on most downs. While he will mix in some simulated pressures and "drop eight" coverage to keep the quarterback guessing, the Bears prefer to attack early and often with various pressures to create chaos for opponents on pivotal downs.

The Raiders get one more practice in at Intermountain Health Performance Center before their Week 4 matchup against the Chicago Bears.
