The Chiefs won the opening coin toss and elected to receive. S Quintin Demps returned the opening kickoff 50 yards to the Raiders 49. RB Jamaal Charles took a screen pass from QB Alex Smith and raced down the left sideline for the touchdown. The extra point was good and the Chiefs led 7-0 with 14:38 left in the 1st quarter.
RB/CB Taiwan Jones fielded the ensuing kickoff and downed it in the end zone for a touchback. The Raiders started at the 20 with Matt McGloin at quarterback. The Raiders drove to the Red Zone but had to settle for a K Sebastian Janikowski 34-yard FG. The kick was good and the Raiders cut the Chiefs lead to 7-3 with 11:05 left in the 1st quarter.
RB Knile Davis returned the ensuing kickoff to the Kansas City 32. The Chiefs scored on another screen pass, 39 yards to Charles this time. The PAT was good and the Chiefs led 14-3 with 7:27 left in the 1st quarter.
A holding penalty wiped out Jones' kickoff return and the Raiders started at the 12. A few plays later, S Eric Berry picked off a McGloin pass and returned it for a touchdown. The Chiefs led 21-3 with 5:07 left in the first quarter.
Jones returned the ensuing kickoff to the Oakland 18. RB Rashad Jennings capped the 11-play, 82-yard drive with a 1-yard TD dive over the top. The extra point was good and the Chiefs lead was cut to 21-10 with 14:40 left in the 2nd quarter.
Demps returned the pooch kick to the Chiefs 28. The Raiders forced a punt and P Dustin Colquitt came on. WR Greg Jenkins let the kick fly over his head and the 58-yard punt bounced into the end zone for a touchback.
Three plays later, McGloin fumbled a low shotgun snap and the Chiefs recovered at the Raiders 11. The Chiefs took advantage when Charles skated in from a yard out. The Chiefs took a 28-10 lead with 8:59 left in the 2nd quarter.
The ensuing kickoff bounced out of bounds inside the Raiders 5 and the Silver and Black started at the 40. The Raiders didn't look to be to take advantage of the field position and went three and out. However, FB Marcel Reece took the direct snap in punt formation and fired a pass to CB Chimdi Chekwa for 22 yards and a first down. It was all for naught when Berry grabbed his second pick of the day. After a penalty during the return the Chiefs started at the Oakland 16.
Charles scored on a screen pass again, this time from 16 yards out. The Chiefs took a 35-10 lead with 5:42 left in the 2nd quarter.
Jones fielded the ensuing kickoff for a touchback. Thanks to a couple of major penalties on the Chiefs, the Raiders were able to move down the field. Jennings punched in it on 1st and goal at the 1. The PAT was good and the Chiefs lead was cut to 35-17 with 3:00 left 2nd quarter.
Janikowski's ensuing kickoff rolled into the end zone for a touchback. The Raiders forced a punt but didn't have enough time to do anything with the ball. The Chiefs took a 35-17 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Jones returned the opening kickoff of the 3rd quarter to the 26. Jones then sparked a scoring drive with a 52-yard catch and run to the 6-yard line. McGloin then hit WR Andre Holmes with a 6-yard TD pass to cut the Chiefs lead to 35-24 with 12:01 left in the 3rd quarter.
Demps returned the ensuing kickoff to the Kansas City 15. The Raiders held the Chiefs to a three and out and Colquitt came to punt. A penalty on the Raiders during the return backed the home team up to the Oakland 14.
McGloin connected with TE Mychal Rivera with a 14-yard TD pass to cap the 86-yard. The PAT was good and the Chiefs lead was cut to 35-31 with 4:56 left in the 3rd quarter.
Jones fumbled the ensuing kickoff and the Chiefs recovered at the Oakland 28. A few plays later, Smith tossed his 5th TD pass of the day, this one a 6-yarder to TE Sean McGrath, and the Chiefs led 49-31 with 1:20 left in the 3rd quarter.
Jones fielded the ensuing kickoff in the end zone and took a knee for a touchback. The Raiders started their next drive at the 20. The Chiefs got the ball back when LB Frank Zombo intercepted McGloin and returned it to the Oakland 31. The Raiders got the ball back when DT Stacy McGee recovered a Smith fumble and returned it to the Oakland 35.
A few plays later, a McGloin pass was tipped and intercepted by LB Derrick Johnson at the Oakland 45. The Chiefs piled it on with a 17-yard RB Knile Davis TD run. The Chiefs led 56-31 with 8:19 to play.
Jenkins returned the ensuing kickoff to the 18. The Raiders went three and out and King came on to punt. Chad Hall returned the punt to the Kansas City 34. The Raiders got the ball back at 1-yard line after a Colquitt punt with 3:58 left to play.
The Raiders drive ended when Ron Parker picked off a Pryor pass and returned it to the Oakland 35. The Chiefs ran out the clock.
The Raiders fall to 4-10 on the season and travel to San Diego next week to face the Chargers at QUALCOMM Stadium.
