When does free agency begin?

The Raiders have 24 players who will become free agents when the NFL's new league year begins on March 11 at 1 p.m. PT. Of those 24, 18 are unrestricted free agents, two are restricted free agents and four are exclusive rights free agents.

Unrestricted free agents are players with four or more accrued seasons who are free to sign with any team once their contract expires. An accrued season is when a player spends at least six regular season games on a club's active/inactive, reserve/injured or reserve/physically unable to perform lists.

Restricted free agents are players with three accrued seasons and are free to negotiate and sign with any team. However, their original team is given right of refusal and can match any offer made by another team in order to retain the player.

Exclusive rights free agents are players with fewer than three accrued seasons. If a player's original team offers him a one-year contract at the league minimum (based on his credited seasons), the player cannot negotiate with other teams.

What are reserve/future contracts and who have the Raiders signed to one?

At the end of a team's season, any player who wasn't on the active roster is eligible to be signed to a reserve/future contract. It gives teams the rights to a certain player and the players don't count against each team's roster limit until the new league year begins in March.

The Raiders signed 12 players to reserve/future contracts on Jan. 5: RB Chris Collier, G McClendon Curtis, LB Jamin Davis, WR Phillip Dorsett II, DT Treven Ma'ae, T Joshua Miles, TE Albert Okwuegbunam Jr., WR Brenden Rice, G Layden Robinson, WR Justin Shorter, OL Laki Tasi and T Dalton Wagner.

How many draft picks do the Raiders have?

As of now, the Raiders hold eight total draft picks and in the first round, the No. 1 overall pick. The team's original fifth-round pick was sent to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for QB Kenny Pickett. Compensatory picks – picks in Rounds 3 through 7 given to a team that lost "more or better compensatory free agents than it acquired in the previous year," per the NFL – will be distributed by the league closer to the draft.
