NFL Scouting Combine Recap: Day 2

Wednesday was a feverish day for Raider Nation at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, but things didn't slow down Thursday.

Not only did Head Coach Jon Gruden address the media for the first time since his introductory press conference in January, but General Manager Reggie McKenzie also spoke.

During Coach Gruden's remarks, he touched on a variety of Raiders topics, but one thing he kept coming back to, was the fact that the Silver and Black needed more production from the younger players on the roster, in particular, cornerback Gareon Conley.

The dynamic defensive back played just two games in his rookie season, but according to both Gruden and McKenzie, No. 22 has all the intangibles to be a top-flight cornerback.

"Prior to his injury, we saw what we thought he was, and that's a No. 1 corner," said McKenzie. "Our evaluation of him coming out of Ohio State was really strong, and his first few weeks on campus in Alameda were really strong. Leading up to the injury he did not disappoint who he was as a player, and in our eyes a No. 1 corner. We feel good about his rehab process, but he still has a ways to go to get to where he needs to get to."

The Combine is now one of the biggest spectacles on the NFL calendar, but its origin story is much humbler.

Raiders historian Jerry Knaak takes a look at the early days of the Combine, and shows us just how far the event has come since its inception.

Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Jason Garrett held his media session Thursday, where he discussed the Silver and Black's addition of Assistant Head Coach/Special Teams Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.

Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid and Denver Broncos General Manager John Elway also talked about Jon Gruden's return to the sideline.

Also, if you missed Gruden's sit-down interview on NFL Network from yesterday, you can check it out below.
