Pete Carroll on QB Geno Smith's injury: 'His shoulder's really locked up'

Following a right shoulder injury that caused quarterback Geno Smith to leave Sunday's contest, Head Coach Pete Carroll said early tests on the QB "didn't show any damage."

"It's just kind of jammed up right now," Carroll said. "The early indications that they were able to get didn't show any damage. His shoulder's really locked up. So, we'll see what that means."

Smith suffered the right shoulder injury in the third quarter of the 24-17 loss to the Broncos. He left to the locker room while backup QB Kenny Pickett stepped up in relief, going 8-of-11 for 97 yards and a touchdown to Shedrick Jackson.

The quarterback also sustained a right hand injury in the first half.

"From what I heard, he got his hand cut and it was bleeding a lot," Carroll said. "And so, they just had to stop the bleeding. He got kicked or scraped or something like that. That's what I heard, I didn't see that. But his shoulder - he got hit pretty good."

Smith was later downgraded to out by the team with two minutes left in the game. He was 13-of-21 for 116 yards and a touchdown before he exited.

The Raiders face the Philadelphia Eagles next week on Sunday, Dec. 14.
