Postgame Notes: Week 1 at Los Angeles Chargers

Team Highlights

  • The Raiders are now 31-23 in season openers all time, including 16-23 on the road in Week 1 and 11-11 against the AFC West in Week 1.
  • The Raiders held the Chargers to 4-of-15 (26.7%) on third downs today, the lowest percentage allowed by the Raiders in a game since Week 9 of the 2023 season vs. NYG (3-of-12, 25.0%).
  • The Raiders committed only two penalties for 15 yards in the game. So far this season, the Raiders' two penalties are tied for the fewest in the NFL in Week 1 and their 15 penalty yards are the second fewest in the league.
  • The Raiders defense held the Chargers to 83 yards of total offense in the first half, the fewest allowed in a first half by the Raiders since Week 15 of 2019 (75 yards vs. Jax; 12/15/19).

Offensive Notes

  • WR Davante Adams now has 10,840 career receiving yards in 151 games, passing Chad Johnson (10,783) for the 19th most receiving yards in NFL history among players in their first 151 career games.
  • Adams has now recorded at least one catch in 132 consecutive games played, the fourth longest active streak in the NFL.
  • Adams' 208 receptions are the most in Raiders history among players in their first 35 games with the Silver and Black.
  • In his first NFL game, TE Brock Bowers led the team with six catches for 58 yards (9.7 avg.), including a 26-yard grab in the second quarter. Bowers' six receptions are the most by a Raiders tight end in their NFL debut and tied for the second most in NFL history by a tight end in their NFL debut, only behind Keith McKeller's 9 receptions on Oct. 18, 1987.
  • RB Alexander Mattison became the second running back to have a 30+ yard TD catch in his Raiders debut. He joined Jack Larscheid in the Raiders' first-ever game as a franchise (46 yards on September 11, 1960).
  • WR Jakobi Meyers led the team with 61 receiving yards on three catches (20.3 avg.), including a game-long 33-yard grab in the fourth quarter. Meyers now has 3,626 career receiving yards, passing Hall of Famer Don Hutson (3,566) for the 20th most receiving yards by an undrafted player in their first six NFL seasons.
  • QB Gardner Minshew II completed 11-of-15 (73.3%) passes for 127 yards, one touchdown and a 120.7 passer rating in the first half. Among QBs in the first half of their #Raiders debut, Minshew's 120.7 passer rating ranks 4th in Raiders history (since 1991).

Defensive Notes

  • DE Maxx Crosby notched his first sack of the season and brought his career sack total to 53.0, tying Bill Pickel (53.0) for the fourth most sacks in Raiders history. Crosby has now had at least one sack in three of the last four Raiders season openers (2021, 2023, 2024).
  • CB Nate Hobbs finished with four tackles (three solo) and added one quarterback hit and one pass defensed. Hobbs now owns 233 career tackles, becoming the first Raiders cornerback in team history (since 1987) to reach 230 career tackles in his first four NFL seasons.
  • LB Robert Spillane led the defense with 10 total tackles (seven solo) and added one tackle for loss. He notched 11th game with 10+ tackles in his first 70 career games

Special Team Notes

  • K Daniel Carlson now has 702 career points with the Raiders, becoming just the fourth player in Raiders history to reach 700 career points.
  • P AJ Cole downed three punts inside the 20-yard line today, his 47th career game with multiple punts downed inside the 20. He passed Tress Way (45) and tied Michael Dickson (46) for the 2nd most games with multiple punts downed inside the 20-yard line in the NFL since 2019.
