Raiders Comeback Falls Short in Seattle

The Seahawks won the toss and elected to defer their choice to the start of the second half. CB TJ Carrie fielded K Steven Hauschka's opening kickoff 7 yards deep in the end zone for a touchback. The Raiders drove to the Seattle 30 before the Seahawks forced a 48-yard field goal attempt. K Sebastian Janikowski's kick split the uprights and gave the Raiders a 3-0 lead with 9:10 left in the 1st quarter.

WR Paul Richardson returned Janikowski's ensuing kickoff 28 yards to the Seattle 28. RB Marshawn Lynch capped the 72-yard drive with a 3-yard touchdown run. The PAT was good and the Seahawks took a 7-3 lead with 4:07 left in the 1st quarter.

Carrie fielded the ensuing kickoff 8 yards deep in the end zone for a touchback and the Raiders started at the 20. The Raiders went three and out and P Marquette King came on to punt. WR Doug Baldwin called for and made a fair catch at the Seattle 26.

The Raiders forced a three and out and P Jon Ryan came on to boot it away. Carrie's return was wiped out by a holding call and the Raiders started at the Oakland 11. A few plays later, LB Bruce Irvin tipped and intercepted a Carr pass and returned it for a touchdown. The extra point was good and the Seahawks led 14-3 at the end of the first quarter.

Carrie fielded the ensuing kickoff 9 yards deep and the Raiders started at the 20 after the touchback. Three plays later, CB Richard Sherman picked off a Carr pass and returned it to the Oakland 18. Seattle settled for a 34-yard field goal that gave them a 17-3 lead with 12:24 left in the 2nd quarter.

The Raiders gave the ball right back as the kicker recovered a Carrie fumble after a 27-yard return. The Raiders held the Seahawks to a three and out and forced a field goal attempt. The 46-yard kick was no good and the Raiders took over at the 36. A Carr sack/fumble ended the Raiders drive and King came on to punt. Baldwin was buried at the 2 on the return.

The Raiders eventually forced a punt. Ryan's kick bounced out of bounds at the Oakland 39. The Raiders went three and out and King came on to punt. Baldwin called for and made a fair catch at the Seattle 22. Lynch finished the drive with a 5-yard TD run. The PAT was good and the Seahawks led 24-3 late in the 2nd quarter.

Carrie returned the ensuing kickoff 42 yards to the Oakland 37. The Raiders got in position for a 51-yard field goal, which Janikowski missed wide right. The Seahawks took a 24-3 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Raiders forced a three and out on the Seahawks first possession of the second half. DT Denico Autry blocked Ryan's punt and WR Brice Butler recovered in the end zone for a touchdown. The extra point was god and the Seahawks lead was cut to 24-10 with 13:52 left in the 3rd quarter.

Janikowski's ensuing kickoff sailed out of the back of the end zone for a touchback. The Raiders eventually forced a Seattle punt. WR Denarius Moore called for and made a fair catch at the Oakland 12.

The Raiders managed one first down before the Seahawks defense forced a punt. Baldwin was dropped at the Seattle 14 after a 1-yard return. The Raiders forced a thre and out and Carrie returned the punt 27 yards to the Seattle 30. The Raiders cashed in with a 1-yard TD pass from Carr to TE Mychal Rivera. The extra point was good and the Seahawks led 24-17 with 2:58 left in the 3rd quarter.

The Seahawks drove to the Raiders 10 before the Silver and Black forced a field goal attempt. The 30-yard kick was good and the Seahawks led 27-17 with 14:50 left in the 4th quarter.

Carrie fielded the ensuing kickoff 9 yards deep and elected to take the touchback. The Raiders went three and out and King came on to punt. Baldwin returned the 59-yard punt 38 yards to the Oakland 47.

The Seahawks settled for a field goal attempt. The 41-yard kick was good and the Seahawks led 30-17 with 9:19 left to play.

After another touchback, the Raiders started at the 20. After picking up one first down the Raiders were forced to punt. King's wobbler was downed at the Seattle 9. The Raiders would eventually force a punt on 4th and 3 at the Seattle 44. Moore returned the 43-yard punt 23 yards to the Oakland 36.

The Raiders got within one score as Carr connected with Rivera for a 1-yard TD pass with 1:52 left in the game. The PAT was god and the Raiders trailed 30-24.

The Seahawks recovered the onside kick attempt and ran out the clock. The Raiders fall to 0-8 on the season and head home to face the Denver Broncos.
