Raiders Conclude Preseason at Seattle

THIS WEEK: The Oakland Raiders, members of the American Football Conference Western Division, are now in their 52nd season of pro football competition. The Raiders face their fourth straight National Football Conference opponent and third member of the NFC West in the preseason when the Silver and Black travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks.

TELEVISION:Greg Papa and Tom Flores, alongside Jim Plunkett, will simulcast the game on the Raiders Radio and Television Network. Raiders Legend George Atkinson will serve as the broadcast's sideline analyst next to the host of the broadcast, popular radio personality JT the Brick.  This week's game will be televised live on KTVU Channel 2. There will be an encore showing of the game on Sunday, September 4 at noon on KICU TV36.

RADIO: The game will air live on Raiders Radio Network originating on KITS LIVE 105.3 FM and KFRC 1550 AM, the Silver and Black's flagship for the multi-state Radio Network. Papa and Raiders two-time Super Bowl winning head coach Tom Flores will man the booth for the 14th straight year. The radio pregame and postgame shows will feature Raider Legends Atkinson and David Humm.

RAIDERS-SEAHAWKS SERIES:This game marks the 10th preseason game between the Raiders and Seahawks with Seattle leading the series (6-3). The Raiders and Seahawks first met in the preseason 33 years ago in Oakland.

The Raiders hold a 28-23 advantage over the Seahawks in regular season action since the teams first met in 1976 in Oakland. The teams met twice a year while Seattle was in the AFC Western Division between 1978-01.

RAIDERS: WR Shaun Bodiford is from Federal Way, Wash.…FB Marcel Reece, RB Louis Rankin and T Khalif Barnes attended the University of Washington…Rankin, Reece and Barnes were all teammates of Seahawks WR Isaiah Stanback and CB Roy Lewis at Washington…Rankin played for the Seahawks in 2009…LB Travis Goethel and Seahawks DE Dexter Davis both went to Arizona State…LB Kamerion Wimbley and Seattle RB Leon Washington played together at Florida State…DE Lamarr Houston and Seahawks S Earl Thomas played together at Texas… G Alex Parsons was teammates with Seahawks TE Anthony McCoy, CB Josh Pinkard and TE Dominique Byrd at USC…Parsons and TE David Ausberry played for current Seattle head coach Pete Carroll at USC… Raiders C Samson Satele and Seahawks G Max Unger both hail from Kailua, Hawaii…WR Damola Adeniji and Seahawks CB Brandon Browner played together at Oregon State…WR Chaz Schilens and Seahawks T Will Robinson were teammates at San Diego State…RB Taiwan Jones and Seahawks CB Jesse Hoffman were teammates at Eastern Washington…WR Shawn Bayes and Seahawks TE Jameson Konz played together at Kent State…RB Michael Bush and Seahawks T Breno Giacomini played together at Louisville.

SEAHAWKS: Seahawks offensive line coach Tom Cable coached with the Raiders from 2007-2010, serving as both offensive line coach (2007-08) and head coach (2008-2010)…G Robert Gallery (first round, 2004) and TE Zach Miller (second round, 2007) entered the NFL as Raider draft choices…Gallery played for the Raiders from 2004-10, while Miller played for the Silver and Black from 2007-10…DE Chris Clemons and WR Mike Williams both played for the Raiders in 2007…RB Justin Forsett, RB Marshawn Lynch, DT Brandon Mebane, TE Cameron Morrah and G Mike Gibson went to Cal…Gibson attended Napa High School…Lynch is from Oakland and attended Oakland Technical High School…CB Richard Sherman and WR Doug Baldwin went to Stanford…WR Chris Carter attended UC Davis…Special teams coordinator Brian Schneider served in the same capacity with Oakland from 2007-08…Special teams assistant Jeff Ulbrich is from San Jose…NT Jay Alford had a brief stint with the Raiders in 2010…Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was born in San Francisco and went to the University of the Pacific in Stockton…Carroll coached alongside Raiders offensive line coach Bob Wylie with the Jets in 1990-91…Seahawks wide receivers coach Kippy Brown was also with the Jets in 1990-91…Brown also coached with Raiders strength and conditioning coach Brad Roll with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1995 and with the Dolphins from 1996-99…Assistant offensive line coach Pat Ruel coached alongside Raiders defensive line coach Mike Waufle with the New York Giants in 2004…Seahawks tight ends coach Pat McPherson was born in Santa Clara and played linebacker at Santa Clara University…Seahawks running backs coach Sherman Smith played running back for the Chargers while Raiders offensive coordinator Al Saunders was a coach from 1983-84.

LAST WEEK:The Raiders hosted the New Orleans Saints at O.co Coliseum last Sunday, August 28. The Saints won the penultimate preseason contest of 2011, 40-20.

NEXT WEEK:The Silver and Black return to Alameda to prepare for the 2011 season opener versus the American Football Conference Western Division Broncos in Denver on Monday night, September 12. It will mark the third time in four seasons that the Raiders have opened the campaign on Monday Night Football.
