Raiders Hang on to Beat Bills 26-24

The Bills won the coin toss and deferred their choice to the start of the second half. K Jordan Gay's opening kickoff skipped through the end zone for a touchback. The Raiders went three and out and P Marquette King came on to punt. King's punt was fair caught at the Buffalo 40.

QB Kyle Orton capped the 60-yard drive with a 42-yard TD pass to rookie WR Sammy Watkins. The Bills took a 7-0 lead with 9:45 left in the 1st quarter.

Gay's ensuing kickoff was downed for a touchback and the Raiders started at the 20. The Bills held the Raiders to another three and out and King came on to punt. The Bills started at the 46 after a short punt return.

FS Charles Woodson's 60th career interception, 22nd as a Raider, ended the Bills next drive and the Raiders started at the 16. The Raiders couldn't take advantage and went three and out. King came on to punt. King's punt was returned to the Buffalo 29.

The Raiders held the Bills to a three and out and P Colton Schmidt came on to punt. The boot was downed at the Oakland 36. QB Derek Carr capped the drive with a 3-yard TD pass to WR James Jones after setting it up with a 50-yard pass to WR Kenbrell Thompkins. The PAT was good and the game was tied 7-7 with 14:56 left in the 2nd quarter.

After a touchback, the Raiders held the Bills to a three and out. Schmidt's shanked punt bounced out of bounds at the Raiders 43. The Raiders went three and out and King came on to punt. King's 57-yard punt rolled into the end zone for a touchback.

The Raiders appeared to get the ball back when Carrie recovered a WR Robert Woods fumble that was forced by CB DJ Hayden. But the call was reversed to an incomplete pass after replay review. The Raiders forced an incomplete pass on 3rd and 8 and a three and out to go with it. Carrie returned the punt to the Oakland 41.

The Raiders drove to the Bills 27 but had to settle for a field goal attempt. Janikowski's 45-yard kick was good and gave the Raiders a 10-7 lead with 8:09 left in the 2nd quarter.

Janikowski's ensuing kickoff was returned to the Bills. 23. The Raiders held the Bills to another three and out. Carrie fielded the punt and was dropped immediately at the Oakland 26.

The Bills returned the favor with a three-and-out and King came on to punt. WR Marcus Thigpen was dropped at the Bills 31 on the return. The Bills then went three and out and Schmidt came on to punt. Schmidt's punt went out of bounds at the Oakland 41.

The Raiders took a 13-7 lead with a 36-yard Janikowski field goal with 1:11 left in the 2nd quarter.

The Bills managed a 54-yard K Dan Carpenter field goal to cut the Raiders lead to 13-10 as time expired in the first half.

A LB Kahlil Mack sack on 3rd and 6 brought the Bills first drive of the 3rd quarter to an end. Carrie returned the punt to the Oakland 35. The Raiders drove to the Buffalo 20 before settling for a field goal attempt. The 38-yard kick was good and the Raiders led 16-10 with 10:18 left in the 3rd quarter.

The Raiders forced a punt and then drove to the Bills 31. Janikowski drilled a 49-yard field goal to give the Raiders a 19-10 lead with 2:36 left in the 3rd quarter.

Thigpen was dropped at the Buffalo 16 after the return of the ensuing kickoff. Orton capped the drive with a 29-yard TD pass to TE Scott Chandler. The PAT was good and the Bills cut the Raiders lead to 19-17 early in the 4th quarter.

RB George Atkinson III returned the ensuing kickoff to the Raiders 22. The Raiders managed one first down before the Bills forced a punt. Thigpen called for and made a fair catch at the Buffalo 24. A penalty on the Bills backed them up to the 14.

The Bills moved out to their 46 before the Raiders forced a punt. Schmidt's punt bounced out of bounds at the Raiders 20.

During a drive in which the Raiders converted a 3rd and 22 with a 51-yard pass to WR Andre Holmes, Carr capped it with a 1-yard TD pass to FB Jamize Olawale. The Pat was good and the Raiders took a 26-17 lead with 2:51 left in the game.

After an unsportsmanlike conduct call on the extra point, the Raiders kicked off from midfield. Needless to say, the Bills started at the 20 after a touchback.

Safety Brandian Ross got the ball back for the Raiders with his second interception of the season. The Raiders started at the 26.

The Raiders settled for a 48-yard Janikowski field goal attempt. The kick was no good and the Bills took over at the 38 with 1:55 to play.

Orton capped the drive with a TD pass to WR Robert Woods. The PAT was good and the Raiders lead was cut to 26-24 with 1:09 to go.

Woodson recovered the onsides kick attempt for the Raiders. The Silver and Black took over at the 39 after an offsides penalty on the Bills.

Carr took a knee twice to run out the clock and secure the victory.
