Raiders vs. Chargers Quote Sheet

Head CoachHue Jackson

ON THE GAME
Obviously we got beat here at home. Didn't look like a football team that was hungry enough to go win an AFC West title. Had every opportunity. I didn't know about the Denver game until after the game was over, but after the first drive we had to go score, it looks like our football team just…we didn't play well. I'm not going to sugar coat it. We didn't slow them down, those guys had 99-yard drives, 99.5-yard drives, we didn't score in the scoring zone, but you hope that your team plays a little bit better to give yourself a chance to win. They run back a kick, Philip Rivers was Philip Rivers today, they looked like the machine they've been on offense and we couldn't stop them and we didn't score enough points. It's unfortunate. I thought this team was ready to take the next step and didn't get it done.

ON POSTGAME FEELING
At some point and time, as a group of men, you go in the game and you can say whatever you want about the coaches, you win the game. Here's your time. Here's your time to make some plays. We didn't get them stopped and we didn't make enough plays, so yeah, I'm pissed at the team and I'm also going to, as I told them, I'll also always put it on me.

ON BRONCOS LOSING
Like I told you, I mean, it's going to feel worse. Once I put on my clothes because obviously we had a chance to win the West. We had a chance to win this division. That's what you're trying to do. This was the game, I told them, somehow, some way, we were going to get in if we win. All we had to do was take care of our business and win the game. This team understood that. We didn't get it done. That's disappointing. That's what I'm disappointed for. For all the other guys in there that did play hard, all the other veteran players that were trying to get done what needs to get done, and we didn't get it done.

QB Carson Palmer

ON THE GAME
Any time you lose at the end of the season and the season's over and you don't win the Super Bowl it's obviously difficult. It's obviously frustrating when you hear the outcomes of other games and know what was there to be had it just makes it that much worse, that much more difficult.

ON INEFFICIENCY IN THE RED ZONE
If you don't score enough points to win you look at all the times you didn't convert on third down, the times you had to kick field goals as opposed to touchdowns. Like I said, it's going to be a long offseason and we have a lot of things to figure out [like] how to get more touchdowns because it comes down to that when you're playing against a team that's hot on offense like they are, field goals don't get it done, you have to get seven when you get down there.

ON BUILDING FOR NEXT YEAR
It stinks to sit here and say 'next year' but you have to let this one settle in and look back at this entire season to find out why it didn't work out and why you didn't win games when you had chances and look to the future. We'll get back together again, look at film, find ways to get better and find ways to make the playoffs next year.

ON KEVIN BOSS'S TD CATCH
Great play by Kevin. If you throw the ball anywhere around his wingspan, he catches it, he has great hands. It's awful to see him get hit like that, as he's on the ground the guy comes in and hits his head late. You get a flag on that, a personal foul, but that doesn't bring Kevin back in the game.

WR Darrius Heyward-Bey

ON THE SEASON
Solid season, but it is disappointing that we didn't go to the playoffs. We have some good things to build on and we will take it from there. Sorry to the fans that we lost, simple as that. I can't take any positives from this loss.

WR Jacoby Ford

ON THE GAME
We had an opportunity to put our hands right around the throat of a team and put them away. We definitely had the opportunity and we didn't come through. It is something that is fixable and we will fix and be ready next year.

ON NOT WINNING DIVISION
It is tough because they lost and all we had to do was win. We just had one thing in mind today and that was to win. That's what we always have in mind; we weren't worried about what else was going on. But when Denver lost it was something we should have capitalized on and we didn't.

DT Richard Seymour

ON THE DEFENSE
I'm not going to make any excuses. We just couldn't stop them when we needed to. I don't feel like we stopped them all day, so there it is.

ON CHARGERS SCORING ON 99-YARD DRIVE
If you can't stop a team with everything on the line then you don't deserve to be a playoff team and we didn't get it done. So this one hurts, it stings for sure, it's disappointing and frustrating. But you just move forward.

ON LOSING AT HOME
Yeah, it is disappointing for all the Raider Nation, everyone involved in the organization, to Mr. Davis, and all the 53 men on this roster, we let the city down for sure. It hurts, it is disappointing. I just know when you go through tough things you don't make any rash decisions. We just took one on the chin and we didn't have an answer for it and we will give them credit.

LB Kamerion Wimbley

ON NEXT YEAR
Well I think this year we were inconsistent and I think that's something we have to work on. I think it's something we can get better at. Obviously another thing would be the penalties that hurt us a lot this year, injuries hurt a lot as well. I think when we have everyone back healthy, and keep everybody healthy and work on the things that hurt us this year I think we will become more consistent next year and we will get more wins. Obviously we had a disappointing season here at home. Our home record wasn't what we would like it to be, but that's definitely something we can improve on.

CB Stanford Routt

ON WHAT TEAM NEEDS TO DO TO IMPROVE
Man, we have to finish. I can think of plenty games this season that we didn't finish out the right was and those were the reasons this game was so important.  I think the main thing is we have to finish. There were games this year that if we would've handled business, this game wouldn't have even been a factor. The moral of the story is to just finish.

FS Michael Huff

ON LOOKING TO NEXT YEAR
It is kind of hard to look forward to next year right now, still hurting about this loss and watching everybody in the playoffs. As of right now there really isn't any looking forward to next year.
