Game Recap: Raiders shut out by Eagles

The Las Vegas Raiders were shut out by the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles, 31-0.

This is the second time the Raiders were shutout on the road this season, the first being against the reigning AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs. Coincidentally, that game ended in the same score.

After the game, Pete Carroll gave a simple explanation for what went wrong – as the team falls to 2-12 this season.

"I don't think it's some big psychic change that took place," he said. "I think we just got whipped by a really loaded football team that on this day had their way."

The game started with the Eagles offense going 3-of-3 on third down, also being assisted by a defensive pass interference call. Offensive creativity was displayed at the goal line when Jalen Hurts faked a handoff to Saquon Barkley, turning into a four-yard shovel pass to tight end Dallas Goedert for the touchdown.

Goedert almost had a second touchdown catch on the following possession, as the Eagles returned to the goal line after a 44-yard completion from Hurts to DeVonta Smith. However, Goedert dropped the ball in the end zone. On the next play, Maxx Crosby got in the backfield for his 10th sack on the season, forcing Philadelphia to opt for a 27-yard field goal from Jake Elliot.

Crosby has now notched his fourth NFL season with at least 10 sacks, with only Greg Townsend Sr. (seven between 1983 and 1991) having more 10-sack seasons in franchise history since sacks became an official statistic in 1982.

Kenny Pickett had some success throwing the ball in the first half, going 10-of-17 for 56 yards. However, moving the chains was a consistent problem. As the Eagles defense kept everything in front of them, Pickett was forced to settle for checkdowns as the offense went 3-of-8 on third downs. Protection up front was also concerning, as Pickett was sacked four times.

Before the end of the first half, the Eagles marched into the end zone again when Barkley capped off a 11-play, 70-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown run up the middle.

Things went from bad to worse for Las Vegas in the third quarter. Their first possession of the half ended with Pickett throwing an interception to linebacker Zach Baun, who smothered the intended target Brock Bowers in coverage.

The interception ended Pickett's streak of nine straight starts without throwing an interception, which was the longest active streak by a current NFL quarterback entering the game.

The Eagles capitalized on the turnover by going 73 yards down the field for another score by Goedert.

An Eagles victory was signed, sealed and delivered shortly afterwards with a 27-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Brown to make it 31 unanswered points.

In totality, the Eagles outgained the Raiders in offensive yardage, 387-75. The 75 yards is their fewest this season, 20 yards less than their previous mark in 2025. Pickett finished with 64 passing yards, also standing as the fewest amount of passing yards the Raiders have posted on the year.

"This is a very, very well-loaded team and they just did their thing today on both sides of the ball and they really took it to us," Carroll said. "We couldn't stop their offense and get off the field on third down. A couple penalties got in our way and they were able to do what they needed to do. They ran for a bunch, they threw really highly efficient stuff.

"It wasn't taxing for them, couldn't make it hard on them and we couldn't get out of our way on offense. We couldn't make any yards."
