The Oakland Raiders fought valiantly against the Detroit Lions from start to finish, defeating the NFC foe 31-24 at home in front of Raider Nation. There were lots of takeaways from the matchup, so let's check out the game notes, presented by Microsoft Surface.

  • The Raiders defeated the Lions by a score of 31-24, moving to 4-4 on the season and finishing 2-2 against NFC North opponents. 
  • Oakland improves their all-time regular season series record against the Lions to 7-6.
  • The win snaps the Raiders four-game losing streak to Detroit, with the team's last win coming on Oct. 13, 1996. 
  • Head Coach Jon Gruden improves his record to 4-1 all-time against the Lions.

  • The Raiders tight ends continue to pace the NFL in receptions (69) and receiving yards (759) and rank second amongst their position group with six total touchdowns. 
  • RB Josh Jacobs surpassed Marcus Allen's franchise record set in 1982 for most rushing yards (697) by a rookie in club history, while also tying Allen's record for most 100-yard contests (three) by a rookie in franchise history.
  • Rookie TE Foster Moreau and rookie WR Hunter Renfrow each recorded a touchdown reception in today's contest, along with RB Josh Jacobs' two touchdowns. The Raiders are the first team since the Seattle Seahawks (Nov. 22, 2015) to have rookies score all four touchdowns in a victory.

  • On the Raiders opening possession, Carr orchestrated a 11-play, 68-yard drive lasting 5:31, culminating in a 2-yard rushing touchdown by RB Josh Jacobs
  • Carr orchestrated a 10-play, 50-yard scoring drive lasting 4:03, culminating in a 32-yard FG by K Daniel Carlson to give the Raiders a 10-7 lead early in the second quarter.
  • On the Raiders third scoring drive of the first half, Carr orchestrated a 12-play, 80-yard drive lasting 5:14, which was capped by a 3-yard touchdown run by RB Josh Jacobs to give the Raiders a 17-14 lead. 
  • Carr's first touchdown pass came early in the fourth quarter when he connected with TE Foster Moreau on a three-yard score to give the Raiders a 24-17 lead.
  • Carr now has eight passing touchdowns on third down, ranking first in the NFL. 
  • Carr recorded his 18th game-winning drive of his career, orchestrating a 7-play, 75-yard culminating in a nine-yard TD pass to WR Hunter Renfrow

  • On the Raiders' opening possession, Jacobs carried the ball seven times for 46 yards and one touchdown to give the Raiders an early 7-0 lead. 
  • With 88 yards rushing in the first half, Jacobs surpassed Marcus Allen's franchise record set in 1982 for most rushing yards (697) by a rookie in club history. 
  • With two rushing touchdowns, Jacobs tied for third-most rushing touchdowns (six) by a Raiders rookie in franchise history (J.D. Smith – 1960).
  • Jacobs became the first rookie since Ickey Woods in 1988 to have two-plus rushing touchdowns in three of his first eight career games.
  • Jacobs tied Marcus Allen for most 100-yard rushing games (three) by a rookie in franchise history.
  • Jacobs is the first running back with at least three games of multiple rush touchdowns in his first season since Ezekiel Elliott had five in 2016. 
  • Jacobs is the first Raiders player since RB Latavius Murray in 2016 to record three games with multiple two rushing touchdowns in a season. 
  • Jacobs became the 20th player in NFL history to surpass 700 rushing yards (740) in his first eight career contests.
  • Jacobs became the fifth player in the Super Bowl Era with two games of 120 rushing yards and two-plus rushing touchdowns over his first eight career games, joining Billy Sims (1980), Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson (1983), Julius Jones (2004) and Adrian Peterson (2007).

  • Renfrow scored the game-winning touchdown with 2:04 remaining on a nine-yard pass from QB Derek Carr, capping a 7-play, 75-yard drive lasting 3:12.
  • Renfrow recorded a touchdown in consecutive games for the first time in his career. 
  • Renfrow finished with a team-high six receptions for 54 yards with one touchdown.

Additional Notes

  • The Raiders rank second in the NFL with only nine sacks allowed through the first eight games of the season.
  • The Raiders' defense recorded at least one interception and one forced fumble in the first half for the first time since Week 3 vs. Titans of the 2016 season. 
  • K Daniel Carlson converted on a 32-yard field goal and was true on four extra points.
  • The Raiders recorded two sacks in the contest, coming from DE Arden Key and DT P.J. Hall, while DT Maurice Hurst recovered a fumble by Lions RB J.D. McKissic on the Lions opening possession of the game.
  • DE Arden Key recorded a sack by taking down QB Matthew Stafford for a loss of 13 yards to end the first half, recording a sack in back-to-back contests for the first time in his career.
  • CB Daryl Worley intercepted a QB Matthew Stafford pass in the end zone to prevent the Lions from scoring, marking the club's third interception of the season.
  • S Erik Harris finished with a team-high 10 tackles (eight solo), marking his first time leading the club in tackles this season.
