2026 Head Coach Candidate Tracker: Raiders conduct 2nd interview with Klint Kubiak

On Jan. 31, the Raiders completed a second interview with Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.

Brian Daboll

Previous role: New York Giants head coach

Bio: Daboll most recently served as head coach of the Giants from 2022-25. He earned AP NFL Coach of the Year honors in 2022 after leading the team to a 9‑7‑1 record and a playoff victory in his debut season. Before the Giants, he served as the Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator from 2018-21, helping guide Josh Allen to career‑best production, including more than 4,500 passing yards and 37 touchdowns during the 2020 season when Daboll was named AP NFL Assistant Coach of the Year.

First interview: Jan. 24

Second interview: Jan. 26

Update: Daboll was hired as offensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans on Jan. 27.

Mike McDaniel

Previous role: Miami Dolphins head coach

Bio: McDaniel spent four seasons as head coach of the Dolphins, finishing with a 35-33 record. Under McDaniel's direction in 2023, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa posted a career‑best 4,562 passing yards and 34 touchdowns, and the Dolphins finished first in the league in total offense with 401.3 yards per game. McDaniel led Miami to back-to-back playoff appearances in 2022 and 2023. Before joining the Dolphins, he served as the 49ers offensive coordinator.

First interview date: Jan. 19

Update: McDaniel was hired as offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers on Jan. 26.

Joe Brady

Current role: Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator

Bio: Joe Brady is in his second full season as the Bills offensive coordinator. Under Brady in 2025, Buffalo scored 481 points (28.3 per game) and finished fourth in the NFL in total offense (376.3 ypg). In his first full season with Buffalo as OC, the Bills averaged 30.9 points per game, and Josh Allen was named NFL MVP. Prior to arriving in Buffalo, Brady spent two seasons (2020-21) as the Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator.

First interview date: Jan. 18

Second interview date: Jan. 26

Update: Brady was hired as head coach of the Buffalo Bills on Jan. 27.

Klay Kubiak

Current role: San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator

Bio: Kubiak is in the fifth season with the 49ers and first as the team's offensive coordinator. In 2025, he directed a 49ers offense that ranked seventh in total offense (351.4 yards per game) and fifth in passing offense (244.5 ypg). His unit also helped power San Francisco to a playoff berth. Kubiak previously served as the team's offensive passing game specialist in 2024, assistant quarterbacks coach from 2022–23 and defensive quality control coach in 2021.

Chris Shula

Current role: Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator

Bio: Shula has spent nine seasons with the Rams and is in his second year as defensive coordinator, guiding a unit that delivered a strong performance in 2025. The Rams defense finished 10th in scoring defense (20.4 points per game) and helped power a 12–5 season and playoff berth. Shula's defense also continued its rise from 2024, when it ranked tied for fifth in red zone efficiency (50%) and produced a top‑tier pass rush with 225 hurries (6th) and 218 pressures (13th). In 2024, the Rams had two Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year finalists in OLB Jared Verse, who ultimately won the honor, and DE Braden Fiske.

Nate Scheelhaase

Current role: Los Angeles Rams pass game coordinator

Bio: Scheelhaase is in his second season with the Los Angeles Rams as the team's pass game coordinator after spending 2024 as an offensive assistant/pass game specialist. In the 2024 season, he helped guide a passing attack that ranked 10th in passing yards (3,868), 12th in yards per reception (11.2) and 13th in completions (367). Under his direction, quarterback Matthew Stafford surpassed 3,000 passing yards for the 12th time and recorded the fifth‑best completion percentage of his career (65.8). A former quarterback at Illinois, he transitioned into coaching immediately after his playing career.

Mike LaFleur

Current role: Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator

Bio: LaFleur has served as the Rams offensive coordinator for three seasons, having previously been in the same role with the New York Jets for two seasons. Under his guidance, the 2025 Rams led the league in scoring with 518 points (30.5 per game) and finished first in total offense at 394.6 yards per game. His offense also produced 4,557 passing yards (268.1 per game) and 2,152 rushing yards (126.6 per game), ranking among the league's top attacks.

First interview date: Jan. 16

Update: LaFleur was hired as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals on Feb. 1.

Jeff Hafley

Current role: Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator

Bio: Hafley joined the Packers as defensive coordinator in 2024 after four seasons as head coach at Boston College. In his first NFL season with Green Bay, he helped engineer one of the league's most improved units, finishing fifth in total defense (314.5 yards per game), sixth in scoring defense (19.9 points per game), seventh in run defense (99.4 yards per game), and fourth in takeaways (31). Before arriving in Green Bay, Hafley guided Boston College to a No. 3 national ranking in passing defense in 2021.

First interview date: Jan. 15

Update: Hafley was hired as head coach of the Miami Dolphins on Jan. 19.

Jesse Minter

Current role: Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator

Bio: Minter joined the Chargers in 2024 after two seasons as defensive coordinator at the University of Michigan under Jim Harbaugh. Under Minter, the 2025 Chargers defense ranked fifth in total defense. At Michigan, he coordinated the nation's top defense in 2023, allowing just 247.0 yards per game on the way to a national championship. Across his two‑year tenure there, his units ranked second nationally in total defense.

First interview date: Jan. 14

Second interview date: Jan. 20

Update: Minter was hired as head coach of the Baltimore Ravens on Jan. 22.

Ejiro Evero

Current role: Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator

Bio: Evero has served as the Panthers defensive coordinator for the past three seasons. Before arriving in Carolina, Evero served as the Broncos defensive coordinator, where he led a top 10 defense in 2022. He also previously helped lead the Los Angeles Rams' secondary during their Super Bowl LVI championship run. His NFL coaching journey also includes roles with Green Bay, San Francisco, Tampa Bay and the University of Redlands after beginning his career at his alma mater, UC Davis.

First interview date: Jan. 14

Kevin Stefanski

Previous role: Cleveland Browns Head Coach

Bio: Stefanski posted a 45-56 record during his six seasons as head coach of the Cleveland Browns. A two-time AP Coach of the Year, he led the Browns to two postseason appearances and two 11-win seasons. In his first season with the Browns, the team went to the playoffs for the first time since 2002 and won their first playoff game since 1994. Prior to Cleveland, he spent 14 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings in various roles before becoming their offensive coordinator in 2019.

Update: Stefanski was hired as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons on Jan. 17.

Matt Nagy

Current role: Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator

Bio: Nagy is a veteran NFL coach who has spent the majority of his career working alongside Andy Reid, beginning as a coaching intern with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2008. He joined the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013, rising from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator and helping guide the offense during Patrick Mahomes' rookie season. Nagy was hired as head coach of the Chicago Bears in 2018, earning AP NFL Coach of the Year honors after leading the team to a 12-4 record and a division title. He returned to Kansas City in 2022 and took over as offensive coordinator in 2023.

Davis Webb

Current role: Denver Broncos offensive pass game coordinator/quarterbacks coach

Bio: Webb is a former quarterback who transitioned into coaching after a six‑year playing career with the Giants, Jets and Bills. He joined the Broncos staff in 2023 and spent two seasons as quarterbacks coach before being promoted to offensive pass game coordinator in 2025. Webb oversaw the development of rookie quarterback Bo Nix in 2024, helping him set franchise rookie records after completing 376-of-567 passes (66.3%) for 3,775 yards with 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Second interview date: Jan. 26

Update: Webb was hired as offensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos on Feb. 2.

Vance Joseph

Current role: Denver Broncos defensive coordinator

Bio: Joseph, currently serving as the Denver Broncos defensive coordinator, has more than two decades of coaching experience including coordinator roles with Miami and Arizona, along with a two‑year stint as the Broncos head coach from 2017–18. Joseph has coached 11 Associated Press All‑Pros, 16 Pro Bowlers and one AP Defensive Player of the Year. In his three years as the Broncos defensive coordinator, his defense has recorded the most sacks (173.0) in the NFL.

Klint Kubiak

Current role: Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator

Bio: Kubiak joined the Seahawks as offensive coordinator in January 2025 and in his first season with Seattle, helped guide an offense that finished third in the league in points scored, contributing to a 14-3 record and the NFC's No. 1 playoff seed. Before arriving in Seattle, he held the same role with the New Orleans Saints in 2024 and worked as the San Francisco 49ers' passing game coordinator in 2023. Kubiak also spent time with the Denver Broncos as passing game coordinator/quarterbacks coach and previously coached quarterbacks and receivers during two stints with the Minnesota Vikings.
