First Half Highlights Against The Kansas City Chiefs

After back-to-back road games, the Oakland Raiders returned home to O.co Coliseum play host to the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday afternoon.

At the half, the Raiders lead 14-7.

Here are the highlights from the first half.

The Kansas City Chiefs won the toss, deferring to the second half, and on the opening kickoff, Chiefs kicker Cairo Santos booted the ball through the back of the end zone.

On the opening drive, running back Latavius Murray took a handoff from quarterback Derek Carr, ran over right tackle and rumbled down the sideline for a gain of 35.

The Raiders took advantage of the early opportunity as Murray put the exclamation point on the drive, reaching his arm out to break the plane of the goal line on 3rd and goal. Sebastian Janikowsi came out and added the PAT to give the Raiders a 7-0 lead with 10:25 left in the first quarter.

The Chiefs managed to drive the length of the field after the Raiders touchdown, but on 1st and 14, Mario Edwards Jr sacked Alex Smith for a loss of four.

Kansas City drew even with the Raiders, but on the ensuing drive, Carr connected with Clive Walford for a gain of 16 to get the Silver and Black into Chiefs territory.

On the first play of the second quarter, Alex Smith found Jeremy Maclin, who turned upfield but was than stripped by Malcolm Smith. Charles Woodson recovered the ball to give the Raiders possession on their own 46-yard line.

With 11:44 left in the first half, the Chiefs faced a 3rd and 4, but Khalil Mack sacked Alex Smith to force a Chiefs punt.

Later in the half, the Chiefs found themselves in 3rd and 6, but Macke earned his second sack of the game, taking down Alex Smith for a loss of seven with 6:52 left in the second quarter.

Immediatley following the two-minute warning, Benson Mayowa forced Alex Smith to roll to his right and throw the ball away. The incomplete pass forced a Chiefs punt.

With under a minute left in the half and the Chiefs driving, Charles Woodson stripped the ball from tight end Travis Kelce in the open field, returning the ball to the Kansas City 36-yard line.

The Silver and Black to advantage of the gift from the Chiefs, as Carr threw a dart to a covered Michael Crabtree who hauled in the pass for a gain of 25 and another Raiders touchdown. Janikowski added the PAT to give the Raiders a 14-7 lead with 0:13 remaining in the half.
