Electronics Technician 3rd Class Ajay Allen from the US Coast Guard was selected as the GovX Hero of the Game for the Raiders division matchup against the San Diego Chargers.
PO Allen began recruit training at Camp May in November 2008 and then began his Electronic Technician training in Petaluma, Calif., on December 29, 2008.
Upon graduating Electronic Technician "A" School, PO Allen spent time stationed in San Diego and then time aboard the USCGC MIDGETT as a CIWS technician from March 2011 through July 2014.
In addition to flipping the coin at the beginning of the game, PO Allen partook in the pregame festivities and was on the field for player introductions.
"It was a phenomenal experience," he said after flipping the coin. "It was great to be on the field with the players and this crowd. I really enjoyed it."
Throughout his career in the Coast Guard, PO Allen has acquired a multitude of proficiencies, including Boarding Team member, shipboard fire fighter and Level II Radio Operator.
PO Allen has also been awarded the CG Commandant Letter of Commendation, two Coast Guard Special Operations Service Ribbons and the Coast Guard Alexander Hamilton Excellence Award.
