Ashton Jeanty earns fifth NFL Rookie of the Week nomination

Ashton Jeanty earned his fifth nomination for Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week for his showing against the Houston Texans.

In Week 16, facing the No. 1 ranked defense in the NFL, Jeanty finished with a career-high 188 scrimmage yards (128 rushing, 60 receiving). It's the second-most scrimmage yards in a game by rookie in franchise history, trailing only Bo Jackson (235) from the 1987 season against the Seattle Seahawks. Jeanty also recorded two touchdowns on plays amassing over 50 yards.

He's now the fifth rookie in franchise history reach 1,000 scrimmage yards on the season, joining teammate Brock Bowers (2024), Josh Jacobs (2019), Amari Cooper (2015) and Pro Football Hall of Famer Marcus Allen (1982).

"He's a big-time performer," Pete Carroll said of Jeanty. "He can come through and do what he's capable of doing in game time if you give him the chances, and that's what we're trying to do. And we got to run the ball a little bit more on a couple extra snaps, and he's gone. That's really encouraging."

The other nominees are Cam Ward (Tennessee Titans), Tyler Shough (New Orleans Saints), RJ Harvey (Denver Broncos), Omarion Hampton (Los Angeles Chargers) and Carson Schwesinger (Cleveland Browns).
