Best of Day 1

**

WR James Jones**

Jones: "I'm always out to prove something. I have a lot of doubters, a lot of people out there talking, and it's just an opportunity to prove people wrong. But I am excited about the opportunity. We have a lot of great guys in that room with a lot of talent and I'm excited to be a part of it. I don't know if it's No. 1, No. 2 or No. 3, but I'm excited to be a part of it, excited to help those guys and go out and make plays on the field."

Jones: "I actually had a chance to talk with Maurice [Jones-Drew] a little bit and we're excited because we have a lot of guys with chips on their shoulder, a lot of guys coming from teams that didn't want them, didn't want to pay them a certain amount of money, didn't think they were worth it, didn't think they had enough gas left in the tank. Everybody we brought in has a lot to prove. We all have a chip on our shoulder and we're ready to go."

Jones: "A lot of guys are excited. A lot of guys are glad to be here, glad to get to work, glad to see a lot of the new faces. For me, it was good to meet some of the guys that were here. We have a good vibe, a lot of guys ready to get to work, ready to grind, and ready to prove some people wrong."

**

RB Maurice Jones-Drew**

Jones-Drew: "You can see how they're excited, they can see how I'm excited to be here. Then, just getting a chance to get all together and be able to talk. I sat and talked with [Matt] Schaub for about 20 minutes today, just picking his brain and seeing what he thinks. I got to talk to some of the younger guys, some of them I know and some of them I don't know. It's a chance to build relationships and get this thing going in the right direction. I think we had the majority of the guys here today, which is exciting to see. I was one of the guys that would never go, so this is kind of new for me as well. It's good to see that and get a chance to work out with guys and see what they've been doing."

Jones-Drew: "We all know we have something left, whether it was a bad year last year or things didn't work out from another team, whatever it may be. As a whole, we're fighting for the same thing, which is respect. I know from talking to some of the coaches and players, with the record last year, as an organization, we're fighting for respect."

Jones-Drew: "At the end of the day, you want to win. If I carry the ball 20 times and we lose, what's the purpose of carrying the ball that many times? If I carry the ball two times and we win, that's what it's all about. My goal is to come in and do whatever I can to help this organization get back to where it belongs and if that's starting, it's starting. If it's backing up, it's backing up."

**

FB Marcel Reece**

Reece: "We were looking for help to bring this tradition, the winning attitude and a championship pedigree back to this organization and to the locker room and I think we did that."

Reece: "At the end of this thing, when you say you have 100 percent attendance, it means a lot. It means dedication, commitment to excellence. It's holding each other accountable. It means a lot to the team to be committed to something like this. We're all grown men here and we all have lives outside of football and families and responsibilities, but for us to be able to make this team and these workouts and the camaraderie and growing together and gelling as a group a priority, it means a lot to everyone when you see guys here."

Reece: "A lot of people know that this is team very important to me. What it means to be a Raider is important to me – important to my life, my career and just what it means."

Reece:"Matt Schaub is a good guy. You can tell he's a leader and that's what you need at the quarterback position. They possess the most power with the ball touching their hands every play of the game on the offensive side of the ball. I think we have a great leader, a great guy and looking forward to being confident at the Raider quarterback."

**

DE Justin Tuck**

Tuck: "I've had the opportunity to talk with a lot of the newer guys and some of the guys that have been here. It's funny because all of those veteran guys kind of think the same way. We all have a lot to prove, like I said, [there is] a lot of talent on this football team. We just have to put it together, and I think [General Manager] Reggie [McKenzie] and his staff upstairs have done a good job of mixing veteran football players that still have a lot in the tank and still have a lot to prove and come in here with the young guys and hopefully we can build that chemistry and build a team that is going to be a winner."

Tuck: "I'm looking at it like this is an opportunity to revive a very historic franchise in a city with a great fan base that is going to be behind this football team. The energy and excitement around this football team should be great. I'm excited about it."
