Match-Up History
The Oakland Raiders first faced the Dallas Cowboys in the regular season in 1974 and hold a 6-4 record against the five-time Super Bowl champions. The Cowboys have won three Super Bowls since Jerry Jones took over as owner and general manager in 1989.
The Raiders and Cowboys will meet for the 28th time in the preseason, with the Silver and Black holding an 18-9 advantage in the all-time series. The teams last played a preseason contest in Oakland in 2009.

Cowboys Coach**
Jason Garrett, now in his second season as head coach, is the eighth head coach in Cowboys franchise history. He led the team to an 8-8 record during 2011 and helped the Cowboys finish 5-3 as interim head coach in 2010.

August 12, 2010: The Raiders traveled to Dallas and beat the Cowboys 17-9. After falling behind 9-0, the Raiders scored 17 unanswered points in the 4th quarter.
August 13, 2009: The Raiders hosted the Cowboys and won 31-10 in their first preseason game of 2009. RB Darren McFadden rushed for 63 yards inclduding a 45-yard burst.
August 21, 2004: The Raiders hosted Dallas and fell 21-20. K Sebastian Janikowski kicked a 23-yard field goal and added two extra points.
August 28, 2003: The Cowboys defeated the Raiders 52-13 at Texas Stadium in Irving, Tx.
August 8, 2002: The Raiders traveled to Dallas and fell 20-6 at Texas Stadium in Irving, Tx.
Story Lines
The Raiders vs. Cowboys preseason match-up on Monday Night Football will mark the first game as head coach for Dennis Allen who was named the Raiders head coach January 30, 2012. This will also be Jason Tarver's first game as an NFL defensive coordinator. The Raiders hired Tarver, who had previously served as co-defensive coordinator at Stanford, on February 6, 2012. Three former Raiders coaches are currently on staff with the Cowboys - Rob Ryan, Bill Callahan and Skip Peete. One-time Raiders QB Wade Wilson is also on the Cowboys coaching staff.
