TEAM

The Raiders traveled to Miami for their first road game of the 2012 season. It was the second straight year that the Raiders faced an AFC East opponent on the road in Week 2 action, as the Silver and Black traveled to Buffalo last season.

QB Carson Palmer connected with nine receivers for completions on Sunday and seven of those receivers recorded multiple catches.

The Raider defense surrendered an 80-yard drive on the game's first possession at Miami, but limited the Dolphins to just 67 yards of offense in the first half following that initial drive.

The Raiders out-passed the Dolphins by 173 yards, racking up 373 yards through the air and limiting Miami to 200 gross and 189 net passing yards.

The Raiders fell to 0-2 to begin a season for the first time since the 2007 campaign.

Sunday's game marked first of five regular-season contests to be played in the Eastern Time Zone by the Raiders this season.

INDIVIDUAL

QB Carson Palmer completed 24 passes on 48 attempts, marking his most attempts in a single game as a Raider. He snapped his previous high of 46 set in Week 1 against San Diego.

Palmer accumulated 373 passing yards for the game, marking his fifth 300-yard game as a Raider and the 12th highest single-game total in franchise history.

Palmer was intercepted on his final pass attempt of the game, snapping a streak of 93 straight passes without an interception to start the season.

RB Mike Goodson recorded his first career receiving touchdown on a 64-yard catch-and-run on a first-quarter pass from Palmer. The reception marked the longest by a Raider since WR Denarius Moore hauled in a 78-yard pass from Palmer in the 2011 season finale against San Diego on Jan. 1, 2012.

Goodson totaled 83 receiving yards on three catches, marking a career high in receiving yards. His total was the most by a Raider running back since RB Darren McFadden totaled 86 receiving yards at Jacksonville on Dec. 12, 2010.

TE Richard Gordon made his second career start and first career start at tight end. His only previous career start came at fullback on Oct. 2, 2011 against New England.

Gordon was credited with a game-high four special teams tackles, according to unofficial press box statistics. The total marks a career high for Gordon.

DE Matt Shaughnessy posted an 11-yard sack in the second quarter on Sunday. It was the second straight game in which Shaughnessy has been credited with a sack, as he shared a sack with DE David Tollefson against San Diego in the season opener.

Shaughnessy recorded at least a half-sack in two straight games for the first time since the 2010 season.

TE Brandon Myers eclipsed his previous career highs with six receptions for 86 yards. Myers had established career bests in the season opener against San Diego with five catches for 65 yards.

Myers hauled in a 21-yard pass from Palmer, marking the second straight game in which he has produced a catch of more than 20 yards. He also had catches of 17 and 19 yards against the Dolphins.

Myers leads all Raiders tight ends and wide receivers with 11 receptions for 151 yards, averaging 13.7 yards per catch. In two games, he has already matched his yardage total for all of the 2011 season.

Myers averaged 14.3 yards per catch against Miami after averaging 13.0 yards per reception in the season opener against San Diego. The last Raider tight end to average 13 or more yards per catch with at least five catches in a game was Zach Miller, who had five catches for 73 yards (14.6) at Dallas on Nov. 26, 2009.

P Shane Lechler boomed a 60-yard punt at Miami on Sunday, his first of 60 or more yards this season. Lechler posted punts of 60 or more yards in 10 games last season.

Lechler totaled 422 punting yards on nine attempts, marking the most for Lechler since totaling 493 yards at Dallas on Nov. 26, 2009.

CB Pat Lee made his second career start, and first as a Raider, in place of injured CB Ron Bartell.

WR Denarius Moore recorded a 31-yard reception in the second quarter, his first of the 2012 season. He added a 26-yard catch and finished the game with three receptions for 67 yards.

Moore averaged 22.3 yards per reception on Sunday. He averaged over 20 yards per reception four times during the 2011 season.

T Willie Smith was forced into action at right tackle following a groin injury to Khalif Barnes. Smith, who was claimed of waivers from Washington prior to the season opener, was part of an offensive line that did not allow a sack against Miami.

SS Tyvon Branch made his 50th consecutive start for the Raiders, tying for the team lead with seven tackles according to unofficial press box statistics.

T Khalif Barnes played in his 100th career game before leaving the game with a groin injury. Of his 100 career games, 40 have come with Oakland.

CB Joselio Hanson saw his first significant action of the season on defense at Miami on Sunday. Hanson posted six tackles, just two shy of his career high set on Nov. 24, 2011 against New England as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.

DB Phillip Adams returned five punts for 58 yards, establishing career highs. He had a 47-yard punt return in the third quarter that helped set up a Raider field goal. The 47-yard return was the longest for a Raider since Johnnie Lee Higgins returned a punt 80 yards for a touchdown against the Houston Texans on Dec. 21, 2008.

TE David Ausberry snagged a pass and scampered for 31 yards, marking a career-long catch for the second-year player. Ausberry's catch-and-run included 27 yards totaled after the reception and marked the longest reception by a Raider tight end since a 35-yard touchdown by Kevin Boss on a pass from P Shane Lechler against Cleveland on Oct. 16, 2012.

K Sebastian Janikowski hit an extra point on Sunday, increasing his career total to 393 and putting him just two PATs away from George Blanda's franchise record of 395 career PATs.

LB Philip Wheeler shared the team lead with seven tackles according to unofficial press box statistics. He was also credited with two quarterback hurries.

Three players split kickoff return duties for the Raiders on Sunday. RB Mike Goodson returned two kicks for 41 yards, including a 25-yard return. CB Coye Francies returned one kickoff 13 yards and RB Taiwan Jones returned one kick for six yards.

Inactive for the game were QB Terrelle Pryor, LS Nick Guess, OL Tony Bergstrom, T Joe Barksdale, OL Lucas Nix, WR Juron Criner and DE Jack Crawford.
