Raiders Fall to Broncos 37-21 in Denver

QB Terrelle Pryor threw for 281 yards and a TD, RB Darren McFadden ran for a TD and threw a TD pass, but the Raiders fell in Denver on Monday Night Football.

The Raiders won the opening coin toss and elected to receive. WR Jacoby Ford fielded K Matt Prater's opening kickoff 3 yards deep and returned it 17 yards to the 14. The Raiders went 3-and-out and P Marquette King came on to punt. WR Trindon Holliday was pushed out of bounds at the Denver 45 after a 20-yard return.

QB Peyton Manning capped an 8-yard, 60-yard drive with a 2-yard TD pass to WR Eric Decker. Prater's extra point was good and Denver led 7-0 with 10:28 left in the 1st quarter.

Prater's line-drive kickoff flew out of the back of the end zone for a touchback and the Raiders started n the 20. Penalties derailed the Raiders next possession and WR Brice Butler was unable to hang on to QB Terrell'e Pryor's 3rd down and long pass. Holliday called for and made a fair catch of a 51-yard King punt at the Denver 37.

The Raiders allowed one first down before forcing a Broncos punt. CB Phillip Adams called for and made a fair catch of the P Britton Colquitt punt at the Oakland 9. The Raiders went three-and-and and King came on to punt. Holliday returned King's line-drive 52-yard punt to the Denver 41.

The Raiders held the Broncos to a 53-yard field goal attempt. Prater's kick was good and the Broncos led 10-0 with 47 seconds left in the 1st quarter.

Prater's kickoff sailed out of the end zone for a touchback and the Raiders started at the 20. The Raiders most promising drive of the night stalled at the Denver 45 and King came on to punt. The Aussie-style kick bounced into the end zone for a touchback and Denver started at the 20.

Manning capped the 80-yard drive with a 12-yard TD pass to WR Wes Welker. The extra point was good and Denver led 17-0 with 7:27 left in the 2nd quarter.

Prater's ensuing kickoff flew out of the back of the end zone for a touchback and the Raiders started at the 20. Three plays later Pryor hit WR Denarius Moore who broke a tackle and raced 73 yards for the score. The extra point was good and the Broncos lead was cut to 17-7 with 5:57 left in the 2nd quarter.

K Sebastian Janikowski's ensuing kickoff flew out of the end zone for a touchback and the Broncos started at the 20. Manning answered with a 13-yard TD pass to TE Julius Thomas. The extra point was good and the Broncos led 24-7 with 3:40 to go in the 2nd quarter.

The ensuing kickoff went through the end zone for a touchback. The Raiders went three-and-out and King came on to punt. King's 44-yard punt bounced out of bounds at the Denver 39.  The Broncos settled for a 41-yard FG and led 27-7 with 19 seconds left in the 2nd quarter.

Prater's ensuing kickoff went for a touchback and the Raiders started at the 20. A few plays later, Pryor was sacked during a Hail Mary attempt and the Broncos took a 27-7 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Janikowski's pooch kick was returned by an up man to the Denver 24. Prater's 40-yard field goal put Denver up 30-7 with 8:41 left in the 3rd quarter.

The ensuing kickoff sailed out of the end zone for a touchback and the Raiders started at the 20. The Raiders were unable to mount a drive and went three-and-out and King came on to punt. Holliday returned the 66-yard punt and a penalty on the Broncos during the return back them up to the 13.

The Broncos were driving when DE Lamarr Houston sacked Manning and forced a fumble. DE Jason Hunter recovered and returned it to the Oakland 30. The Raiders got into the red zone and used trickery to score. RB Darren McFadden threw a 16-yard TD pass to FB Marcel Reece on a halfback option pass. The extra point was good and the Broncos lead was cut to 30-14 with 17 seconds left in the 3rd quarter.

The ensuing kickoff went for a touchback and the Broncos started at the 20. RB Ronnie Hillman capped the 80-yard drive with a 1-yard TD run. The extra point was good and the Broncos led 37-14 with 11:27 left.

Ford returned the ensuing kickoff 28 yards to the Oakland 21. On 4th and goal at the Broncos 1, Pryor's pass was incomplete and Denver took over on downs.

A few plays later, RB Montee Ball fumbled and CB Mike Jenkins returned it to the Denver 15. A penalty moved the Raiders to the 20. Matt Flynn entered the game at quarterback. McFadden capped the drive with a 1-yard TD run. The extra point was good and the Broncos led 37-21 with 1:15 to go.

The Broncos recovered the onside kick. Denver ran out the clock and secured the victory. The Raiders fall to 1-2 on the season and return home to face the Washington Redskins in 2013 Regular Season Week 4 action.
