Raiders Fall to Seahawks 20-3

The Seahawks won the coin toss and elected to receive. K Sebastian Janikowski's opening kickoff sailed out of the back of the end zone for a touchback. The Seahawks took the field at the 20 with Tavaris Jackson at quarterback.

The Seahawks marched down the field but were turned away when SS Tyvon Branch intercepted a Jackson pass at the goal line and returned the pick to the Raiders 25. The Silver and Black Attack took the field with Jason Campbell at quarterback with 9:55 left in the first quarter.

After Janikowski missed a 52-yard field goal attempt, K Jeff Reed capped a 5-play, 50-yard drive for the home team with a 25-yard FG to give Seattle a 3-0 advantage with 2:54 left in the 1st quarter.

WR Nick Miller returned the ensuing kickoff to the Raiders 18-yard line. The Raiders next drive stalled at midfield and Lechler punted the ball back to Seattle who took over at their own 20 after a penalty on Oakland.

Charlie Whitehurst entered the game at quarterback for the Seahawks. Seattle added to their lead when RB Thomas Clayton ran in from a yard out to cap a 13-play, 80-yard drive. The extra point was good and Seattle led 10-0 with 9:07 left in the 2nd quarter.

Rookie WR Denarius Moore returned the ensuing kickoff to the Raiders 24. Janikowski capped a 12-play, 61-yard drive with a 34-yard field goal which cut Seattle's lead to 10-3 with 3:20 left in the 2nd quarter.

Golden Tate returned the ensuing kickoff and after a penalty, the Seahawks took over at the Raiders 38. The Seahawks gave the ball back when they were stuffed on a 4th and 1 play at the Raiders 31. Trent Edwards entered the game at quarterback for the Raiders.

The Raiders drive stalled and Tate returned P Glenn Pakulak's punt 43 yards to the Raiders 46. Reed's 53-yard field goal attempt was blocked by CB Joe Porter and the Seahawks took a 10-3 lead into the locker room at halftime.

WR Shaun Bodiford returned the opening kickoff of the second half 27 yards to the Raiders 24. QB Kyle Boller took the controls. The Raiders drove to midfield before the Seahawks forced a punt. Tate returned Pakulak's punt to the Seattle 13.

Seattle drove inside the Raiders 5, but the visitors held firm on 4th and 1 and took over at their own 2. The Raiders were unable to mount a scoring drive and Seattle took over at their own 30 after a short return of a Pakulak punt.

Josh Portis entered the game at quarterback for Seattle. A Reed 36-yard FG  gave the Seahawks a 13-3 lead with 13:21 left to play.

TE Kevin Brock fielded the short kickoff and returned it 18 yards to the Raiders 26. The Seahawks held the Raiders to a three-and-out put the Raiders recovered a muffed punt at the Seattle 49. The Raiders failed to convert on 4th and 15 and the Seahawks then punted the ball back to Oakland.

The Raiders drove to midfield but failed to convert on 4th and 4 and Seattle took over at their own 48. RB Vai Taua finished the drive with a 4-yard TD run, the PAT was good and the Seahawks led 20-3 with 5:12 left in the game.

The Raiders drove to the Seattle 32 but failed to convert on 4th and 10 and the Seahawks took over on downs.

The Raiders will trim their roster to 53 players Saturday and will begin preparations for the regular season opener on Monday Night Football against the Broncos in Denver with a practice Sunday at their Alameda, Calif. Facility.
